Pete, oh dear Pete, keep smelling them, let them give you a calmness of some sort, so that this crazy often insane world of cancer can keep you in a peaceful spot for a minute or two, and then hopefully linger on in your memory, keeping things on an even keel.
I hate where your cancer has arisen (I'm know you do too even more so)but I believe with your determination and fortitude you can beat this once again.
Do your yoga, and whatever else mind wise that can bring a bit of peace to you, I know from experience the heart does a bit of the pitter patter a lot more when you discover it is back...but I have faith that you can beat it again, so take a little step back, reassure yourself and go from there my friend from down under.
And Pete??? Hugs back,
Winter Marie
Sweet smells linger like flowers, like the kindness of our friends. Here and at home. I am calling in my favours and simply asking for more help to find a way to live well. Help from doctors, family and my local community.
Meditating in sauna as I post.
Hugs always,,
Pete
Ps our friendship is a good example of putting love ahead of ego, in that our different points of view have never got nasty.0 -
Hi Pete:
Just catching up. Well your news just sucks. I must admit I don't understand half the stuff you do but just keep putting one foot in front of the other to get a plan in place. I'm glad you got your affairs and business in order so you and your wife can concentrate in making decisions going forward. You know Pete my hubby George was diagnosed advanced Stage IV in March, 2009 and 2009 should have been his last year on earth but he is still here. Granted, there are some real tough days but there are lots of really good days too. No one knows their expiration date so don't you even think of going there. Wishing you nothing but the best outcome as you move forward in your journey.
All the best - Tina0 -

This truly is a very serious operation, not to be taken lightly at all. There are several on the site Colon Club that have had this procedure very successfully. One that comes to mind is Sky Fletch. He is young, around 29 I think. Anyway, he just had another successful scan showing NED. He was very involved in his treatment, scans, etc. Anyway, after diagnosis his gal did not leave his side, they are now married, he is remodeling a house and living life to its fullest. He would be a good source of information for you if you do have HIPEC. I don't think he did alternatives but was very involved in his treatment and very knowledgeable.

did they find peritoneal mets? I thought it was three spots, spleen, liver and lung. I really hope they can do piecemeal surgery of these, rather than the overall stripping and internal chemo...that's rough from what I've read. Hugs!0 -

Tina
thanks again for caring and sharing.
Tina, the real life story helped. It's such a big op that I need to take it lightly, to cope with the risk and the pressure. I will contact him after I see hipec surgeon.
Ann, yes my reading of pet I said 3 spots, onc said peritoneal Mets., I am starting to understand what that means.
Hugs,
Pete
Ps i am glad I have given lots of hugs Here, they arr coming back to me.0 -

I am so sorry to hear about the peritoneal mets. There is another group I have been reading up on... It is in yahoo groups...PMP Belly buttons...
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pmpbellybuttons/
. They have a lot of info on hipec.
As does the appendix cancer connection ...
http://www.appendix-cancer.com/oldsite/
I hope the information helps. I have also been reading up on the hipec surgery... I have signet ring adenocarcinoma... Hipec is one of the treatment options for what I have. Not sure if I need to go that far just yet...but I want to be prepared.

Are 2 of the mets being classified as peritoneal because they are on the outside of the liver and spleen?

no regrets
"no regrets" - now that is what I like to hear. Your efforts to do everything possible to rid yourself of cancer has certainly been inspirational to me.
Here is to hoping this setback will be just a temporary blip on the radar.
best wishes and peace

dear ann Alexandria,
i appreciate the positive perspective, i was measuring up the coffin today. what a fool i am, as you say, so much good going on for me, i am ungrateful for what i have. I will contemplate acceptance tonight in my new far infared sauna.
its ok to be a little different. it makes the board an exciting place to visit.
its just i hoped the carrots would beat the crc! alas. but I got red carrots now and a few other tricks up my sleave!
anyway thanks for reading pet. lots to ponder in my little case study.
lets assume my supplement/nutrient rich diet filled my blood with anti cancer stuff that protected liver and organs. so now the crc cells left over from the op 2 years ago have grown, you know the doubling time algorithm.
you can download the whole cd and check out the spots.
your analysis is what i thought from reading the report.
but the doctors explanation was chilling.
i just saw onc and surgeon today.
it seems the spread has been contained to the periteonum.
the message is its contained in the peritoneum. doctor morris is a top liver guy who does the mitomycin chemo bath while they ripe out your peritanum. they may kill you in the process, serious op about 10 hours. in my mind 70 days and counting to the biggest cut of them all. I am already committed to grabbing this curative option, if my last ditch alternative binge cannot get the markers to go down then I will go the hardcore surgery. If 5 hours a day qigong and my alt csan cure me, then i will skip the surgery.
the pre op pet in say 3 months will support the movement of cea.
from the surgical team it maybe curative and the lung thingy well lets cyberknife.
looks like going to india to get cyberknife, not available in australia, in india may also get dedredic cell vaccine and hyperthermia treatment. considering this for fun, now i have some tumours they can make a vaccine out of. its about $15,000 all up so its not huge money. And i have never been to india. slumdog millionaire is the kids favourite movie.
actually hammering all the alts a bit harder, yes its possible.
contemplating the avastin/5fu free chemo offer.
it could fit in to the 8 week preop trial to shutdown any growth.
I got to get an appointment to see doctor morris, get his opinion about my pet.
lets just have fun.
hugs,
Pete
ps looks like the gcmaf nagalase result is not an indicator for me, i knew about this possibility but i thought i would include it here.
pps http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20232161 this says it all, these are the questions for the hipec surgeon.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18726900 some interesting stats
ppps http://jco.ascopubs.org/content/30/18/2287.2.full this is chilling but i need to know. yuk!
India sounds good ... your optimism is contagious Pete.
Does your smoothie contain sugar or is it sugarfree?
If you do go to India, let me know if you need any info...
if your kid liked Slumdog, watch "The best exotic Marigold Hotel" -- a trip to India like never before
Sending you loads of prayers. You are a trooper. You will beat this again.0
