I’m now a Bagger!!

Hello my friends. I know it’s been a long time since my posting but I’ve had a lot going on a lot of changes with my fight. After 2 years to pooping problems (as most of us Colorectal Cancer patients have) my Ostomy bag was put in last month and so far so good. Last week I took my 6 year old son to see a movie. I haven’t been to a movie in over a year! I hope to do other things like camping, going to the state fair and so on. So, in a way my life has restarted and I’m no longer locked within 10 feet of a bathroom. LOL and so far I’m still NED!!

    Awesome
I've been wondering how things were going with you. So glad to hear that you are starting to do things again. Yesterday it was probably close to 25 times, but it was mainly confined to a period of two hours and that amount of times is unusual, but when I'm going through days like that, I've often thought about getting it re-reversed. So glad you are posting and thanks for the update. Congratulations on the NED too. Live Life!!!

    Hi Brooks,
I'm happy to hear you are still NED and that you've resolved the bathroom issues.
It's tough to have to worry about bathroom issues. I'm glad you popped in again.

    Great news
It is a brave step to make the decision to go from something that in our minds is 'normal' to a something that is 'abnormal' but clearly it was the right decision and is already having a huge impact on your quality of life. I am soon destined to become a double bagger (urostomy as well) and have to say after having had an ileostomy for a year back in 2004 that part of the process doesn't worry me too much. It quickly becomes so normal and is quite liberating compared to unpredictable bowel habits.

    Congrats on the right decision,

    steve

You'll adapt to it well. I dont miss all the toilet runs at all. Quality of life is much greater with a bag in my opinion.

    congratulations!
Brooks, so glad to hear you have gotten your life back. Best news today! I had to have my reversal reversed also. What a game changer. Until last week I worked in a bank wearing a white shirt. The year before that never could have happened.

Watch your nutrition. I did not know this for a while, but the last 19" or so of your small intestine is responsible for absorbing fat soluble vitamins. Since yours is busy being tied up being a worthless jpouch (or did you have your jpouch removed entirely?) you need to make sure you are not deficient in all the goodies you need to keep a healthy immune system.

    best wishes & peace

    Rick
