Freida
Have you heard from Judy? I am worried and am wondering how Don is doing.
If possible can you let us know?
Thank you so much
Barbara

Don't mean to step on toes here
Frieda is such an excellent communicator but I saw your post this morning and I know how we all wait for some news from our "family" so I thought I'd jump in and copy/paste Judy's facebook update from Monday.
• Judy Reed
Don has multiple DVTs in right arm
Kidney function is high but stable
Albumin is very low
Liver function tests really increased and may be due to theTPN they were giving him
Taking PICC line out
Doing scan of legs for DVTs
Will give heparin infusion
Will do abdominal ultrasound
Will do another CT scan
He needs oxygen
He is on fall precaution due to heparin
Trying to wean him off the narcotics
Bowel is not working
Basically everything that was done at Bronson was the wrong thing for Don. I am very angry with myself for allowing that to go as long as it did. I know better. You can all say that it isn't my fault but in most ways it is. Don has a bit of anger too but I know that he is relieved to be here and I feel confident they can get him feeling better. I will keep you posted but don't expect much in the way of results today. I am exhausted and he doesn't feel good and I am sure the Bickersons are coming for a visit. For those of you that don't know the Bickersons this is an endearing term that one of the nurses gave my mom and dad when they were here at UofM for a lengthy stay. It is now what all the CBGs call ourselves when one of the couples is having a little spat. We just say "the Bickersons were here" stressful times to be sure but positive better days are coming.
Will keep youn posted as things progress. Thank you for your well wishes and continued prayers. Love, Judy and Don and Caitlin.0 -
Hi - I hadn't heard from
Hi - I hadn't heard from Judy since the news about the DVTs and was getting quite concerned. But, as you have probably seen, she posted an update today. Sounds like they have been having a tough time of it. My thoughts go out to them both.
Just found out last night that a good friend's husband suddenly died of a massive heart attack Sunday. Seemed fit as can be - just a couple of years older than me and leaves another shocked and heartbroken widow and 5 kids. 2012 just keeps on giving. Sigh0 -

My heart breaks for your friend. I can't imagine going it alone with 5 kids. So sorry.
Yes, I'm ready for 2012 to move on....

Thanks Terry. The kids are grown - well the youngest is in university. In some ways harder for my friend as they live all over the place so now she is on her own. Very tight knit family. She is in shock and is devastated.
I will sure be glad to say goodbye to 2012. Between Bill, so many sad losses here, my Mum (she broke her hip and it affected her greatly both physically and mentally - she is unable to go home and I spent some time in England visiting her in the hospital and helping my brother and we had to sadly move her into a care home. I flew back to Houston the day before Bill's 3 month checkups started - so torn between being here for him and there for her), and now my friend's husband. What a year. Blech. + I never want to set foot in a hospital again.
Thanks for the hugs - I needed them today. Feeling very emo.

I feel so alone now, I can't imagine when the littles grow up and head off to college. That must be a very alone time.
Please pass very heartfelt hugs to your friend. Life isn't fair some days....
