Judy please read
I read you post and like Sherry am concerned. As I mentioned to you before you and Don remind me so
much of Vince and I with the motorcycles and the chain of events that have happened.
Vince had severe stomach pain too. He had fluid in his ankles, legs, chest and abdomen. This was causing his pain, especially his abdomen. His oncologist put him on TPN and he gained a lot of weight. I was elated BUT JUDY it was all fluid weight. He hurt badly from the extra fluid and had to be tapped. They took out 5 liters, tested it, and it was full of cancer cells. He had to be drained over and over again.
Please Judy we care so much but take Don somewhere else. This is a travesty what has happened to this poor man and to you.
I am livid with Vince 's surgeon at Emory and with his oncologihst.
The TPN overloaded Vince so much with fluid. He should have been on a feeding tube from the beginning but was not
I am so sorry to say all of this but you both deserve more than you have gotten from your drs.
I wish you would call me. 706-897-4056
I would love to help if I could.
Love
Barbara

Judy just called me.
Judy wants you all to know that we just spoke and I suggested he get the hell out of that hospital too.
Don has ascites in his abdomen and a pleural effusion. The oncologist there told her the fluid
was definately NOT CANCEROUS and he has not even drained the fluid or tested it.
How the hell does he know this until he taps him and tests the fluid ?Judy is hoping, as I am, that the fluid buildup is from the heart BUT
From what I know. From Vince that may not be the Case.
Bob H. You are so right. He needs to be at U of M ASAP to see the real drs.
Judy says she will keep on these drs and that Don should be released on Tuesday and then they will
Go to the University hospital. I say the sooner the better.
EC SUCKS and will not slowdown for anyone.
Judy appreciates EVERYONEON THIS SITE and will let us know what happens.

Although it isn't always pleasant I am so glad that you post from your experience. Our situation was similar to yours and my husband had a local recurrence. He felt great, couldn't believe the cancer was back, and a few weeks later he was gone. Scans did not show that the cancer had invaded the aorta and trachea, just too close to the local recurrence, so we went into surgury thinking it was a difficult situation, but treatable.
You are correct in warning everyone about just how brutal this cancer is and to never, ever, wait and see what happens. Aggressive is the only word when dealing with this beast.
Bless you Barbara for your concern for others and their well being. You are a gem in the world of advocates. Words from my heart, Linda0 -

How kind of you to
Linda
How kind of you to post. I sm so dammed sick of this cancer and how destructive it is. Some of the drs out their
are so uninformed about EC and look what that does to us.
I am so sorry about your Bob. What a BEAST EC IS.
If William had not started this board many years ago the lucky ones who have survived this may not have. Our stories
May help so many people so we have to be honest.
I cannot sugar coat this cancer. It took away the love of my life and I am not a forgiving person when it comes to EC.
As Judy says FEC FEC FEC.

FLUID
Hello Barbara,Your post hit home with me. My husband also starting retaining fluid in his abdomen. He was getting IV Fluids every other day for dehydration. The first time he had his stomach drained they took out 5 liters also. Thats when they tested it for cancer and sure enough it was full of cancer cells. The Dr suggested a pigtail for draining so he wouldn't have to go into the hospital every other day for drainage. I was able to do it at home. With all this fluid they still gave him IVs. He started swelling and throwing up bile and blood. He never stopped the vomiting the cancer had hit his bowels and his stomach stopped working. There was no where for the fluid to go. I hope this isnt to much information but this was how our story went. Just don't want to see another suffer thru something that could have been avoid. By the way Barbara I to am angry with our Oncologist. He seen my husband twice out of rhe whole month he was in the hospital. When they told my husband he was dying he was by himself. I was on my way to the hospital and Dr. Gibson didnt wait for me to be there. He told my husband he would call me. Well its alomost 5 months later and I never recieved a called. Sad isnt it. Thats our famous UPMC Shadyside Hospital and the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh PA.0 -

I am so sorry about your husband. This cancerous fluid is so horrible. I passed my year and a half mark yesterday
And can still see Vince suffering with the fluid. I hats this cancer with a passion and have no use for any of Vince's doctors.
So very sad.
Thank you for posting. How are you managing?

Life has been very hard these past four months. Like you Barbara, I only see and feel the pain and suffering my Rust endured. Im in a grief group and they say in time the bad memories will fade and the happy life we shared will shine. I wish it would happen now. I never thought in a million years that I would be a widow at 46. As much as I hate that word, it is what it is. Im doing things one day at a time. Thats the best I can do for now. Life seems to be moving on and Im just standing on the side lines watching. I hope life is being kind to you Barbara. You were my first friend on this site and for that I thank you. Peace & Love,
Chrissy0
