Passing along a tip to help with neuropathy

Just wanted to pass along another tip from my wonderful Oncologist about a supplement that you can buy over the counter to help with neuropathy: Alpha Lipoic Acid 600-1200 mg/daily. My grocery store had it, it is a new product for them.
She said there has been a study and it helped, but she said the effects won't show until taking it for about 3 weeks so it wouldn't help me until my next treatment, but it was worth a try for that one and the last. I don't know if it prevents the neuropathy or helps once you have it. I went right out and got 2 bottles and took my first dose last night after chemo.
Another thing: I had what felt like a charlie horse going down my leg and into my heel with a feeling like a rock by my heel underneath, and limped around for about a week...Oncologist said that was neuropathy!!! That was a surprise. She said others had the same side effect.
Anyone else ever hear of this supplement?
