I wanted to update on my dad. He was diagnosed in May' 11 with nsclc squamous cell in the right lower lobe at 13mm nodule. He had lymph node involvment which did not make him a candidate for surgery. He had carbo/taxol chemo with 39 radiation treatments to his mediastinum and his right lower lobe. This took about 6 months worth. After that, a lesion was found on the sacral area.He ended up having 10 treatments of rads to this area. This was in May of this year.He was hospitalized once this year after some chemo, because his blood counts were too low, weakness, etc. He has endured sooo much.As a family we have been devistated. So hard on my mother, who is the sickly one.Todays pet scan showed no new lesions, and decreased FDG updake on the sacral lesion and no mention of any new lung lesions....I was expecting to hear the worst...He is 78 yrs old.He is a strong man,Ive always known that in my heart.Ive learned that no one knows when, how long we will live. The oncologist said maybe a pet or ct scan in a few months.
Wishing you all strength to fight and will power to keep positive.
Sincerely,Cathy.

Thanks dennycee for your replydennycee said:Put on your dancing shoes.
While your dad is not NED (no evidence of disease for the newbies), he is certainly stable disease-wise. This calls for some hap-HAP-HAPPY DANCING. I'll meet you on the dance floor. Tell your dad I said way to fight it, okay?
I always keep my dad in the loop as to what I read/learn on the CSN.I wish you all the best!I have been quietly "dancing" since friday:)Take Care,Cathy0
