Kidney function....or is it time to get a new Dr?

I am two months out from a radical nephectomy. Before the surgery, my creatinine was .85. I went is for my standard three month blood test (A1c, cholesterol and panel). the good news is my A1C dropped disgnicantly, from 7.1 to 5.7 (and my weight dropped 30 lbs). But he was very concerned about my Creatinine level. It was no longer in the normal range, and was at 1.4.

When I got home, I did some research, and realized that 1.4 is not bad for a 48 yo male with one kidney. He did not need to panic me. Or am I over reacting?

(this the the Dr that ignored my concern with family history of Kidney cancer 8 years ago, telling me it was an environmental disease). I need to find another Dr in my area before firing him. But, when he draws the blood again, and talks to me, I may get snooty and say something like, if you had listened to my concerns 8 years ago about family risk of kidney cancer, perhaps my creatinine levels would be better.

    Give it some time for your remaining kidney to wake up, compensate the lost function. My creatinine level was 1.5 after radical nephrectomy, it took my body 4 years to lower it down to 1.0. And I am 53.

    I am not worried about the creatinine. The Dr is.
