scan results
I am having huge anxiety and stress.I am a stage IV colon cancer patiet with mets to liver. I went in for ct scans about 2 wks ago. Chest, abdomen and pelvic. The scan showed no cancer but something going on with liver. So she sent me for MRI . Went for MRI and those results showed no cancer. Onco wanted me have pet scan done. Did the pet scan on Wed and then Thurs was my maintenance and see onco to get results. Well, she came in and said that pet scan showed some "activity" liver lesions. Not sure if cancer or inflamation. So now she wants, me to do liver biopsy. She said she doesn't deal in grey areas. Black and white only. I called my liver surgeon and he was in or thurs and fri. Liver nurse said surgeon saw the mri and that my liver was stable. Then when I talked to her again on Friday she said liver surgeon wants me to come in. I don't see him til the 20th. He is gone all this week. I still have not been scheduled for biopsy. When I went to onco on thurs for my maintenance and results i swear I really thought I was clean. She even showed me my bloodwork numbers and everything perfect. just glucose a little elevated. but when had pet scan the day before sugar test came in normal range. I don't know what to think? Why does surgeon want to see me? He never called to talk to me at all. I would think/hope if it was serious he would have called me and not make me wait till next monday. I have anxiety and panic attacks and they are real bad right now. I am so depressed, scared, upset. Please anyone that has any suggestions, advice or even went thru somthing similiar, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks all,
Actsassy

Hi, sorry to hear that you
Hi, sorry to hear that you aren't getting the info you need in a timely manner. My husband started chemo before he had a biopsie (held off of avastin because of possible bleeding after prosedures). How confident are you in your docs? If you are confident in them and really want to continue doctoring there you need to communicate to them that you are confused by everything and need them to help you understand. Don't hestitate to get another opinion (2nd, 3rd, 4th and more). It is hard to wait and having to wait would make anyone panic. I had to ask for something to help settel my mind ro I was going to go nuts.
I will be thinking of you and asking GOD to help you stay calm.
We are here if you need us, sometimes it just helps to say what you are feeling, and have someone share their experiences.

Actually these docs are awesome as in they came in and was able to have surgery on liver and colon this past nov. I have been dx for 3 years. Doc/hospital i was before told me inoperable. So as far as treatment they have been totally great. It's just this is making me crazy. And I am taking xanax pretty much around the clock. My md told to take it and if i see it's not doing anything to take another one. to put under tongue and let it melt or chew it. make it go in blood stream faster. I just don't understand how the two test show no cancer and now this is showing "activity". To wait for my livert surgeon till Monday is excruiating!0 -
It could be smaller than 1cm
If it is smaller than 1 cm than the CT does not pick up. It may barely pick up on PET, but just show something. When I was diagnosed the CT showed liver lesion, my onc wanted to do biopsy on liver, he thought it could just be inflammation, surgeon said no, he knew it was cancer. Surgeon took out liver portion approx. 1 cm and it was cancer. I never had a biopsy. Good luck, the waiting is the worst. When you find out a plan will be made and put in action.
