Drive-Thru Mastectomy went well

Everything went very well. Came home with a dressing, the dang drain, and an On-Q. Anyone heard of this? I hadn't. Its a small tube inserted right into the surgical area, connected to a big ball in its own carrying case. This automatically pumps pain meds in at intervals. It gets taken out when I got for my post-op check on Thursday. Pretty amazing.
I took one pain pill last evening, one before bed and am feeling really surprisingly good today. I'll pop one if I feel any pain coming on, but I am so surprised at how good I feel.
I will be resting and relaxing the weekend, with darling Kevin at my command. He is a gem.
Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you for the prayers, positive thoughts and the pink bus. And Sue--more tomato pie and halfmoons--I virtually imagined them and they were great!
Love and hugs, Renee

Thanks for posting this update. I'm right behind you on the mastectomy as mine is coming this tuesday. Glad to hear everything went well and the meds port sounds interesting. Have not heard of that. My doc has called in prescriptions for me to pick up prior to surgery to be taken after. As expected I'm apprehensive but appreciate others' feedback to get my mind ready. Wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to your updates. Take care. -

Tomato pie & half moons
I actually thought about sending them, and then I saw that the temp in Phoenix was 115 - I don't think they would make it!
It's a fairly nice evening here, I went outside to wish all good things for you on the shooting 'stars' of the perseid meteor showers. it's overcast, for goodness sakes! Still, many wishes and prayers for you, my sweet friend, as well as for Kevin.
Many (tender) hugs,

Hey, I resemble that! LOL I thought I was the only one who had a drive-thru mastectomy!!! That's exactly what I called my surgery; drive-thru! Sometimes, I'd say 'drive-by' depending on discomfort level. LOL
Did you have any lymph nodes removed? I did, and it seemed like it took a few months for the numbness to wear off and all of the feeling to finally come back to my arm on that side.
So glad you're doing as great as you are. And that you have Kevin to help you out.
(((Hugs)))
