reaction to Lubricant

Yesterday I broke out in whelps using the same Lubricant I have used all along with my dilator. Everywhere the Lubricant had touched it looked and felt like poison ivy. Luckily, at least this time, a dose of Benadryl relieved the symptoms. Has anyone else developed a sensitivity to Lubricant and what should I do about it?

    Hi Sandy--
Oh my, that doesn't sound good. It's curious that it just now happened after using that same lubricant for awhile. I don't have an answer for you, except to say that perhaps the manufacturer has changed the ingredients or something. Did you just begin using a new bottle of it? I have trouble with the KY--makes me itch--so I now use Astroglide. I have never had a breakout as you've described though. I would certainly switch to something else and see if that eliminates the problem.

It doesn't surprise me... with my last blood work I have found out that I am now allergic to alcohol preps! Have you ever heard of that? LOL, broke out in hives and a rash, etc. I may be having the same problem ... during relations, using KY suddenly had a very strong burning sensation. Maybe I am now allergic to my hubby! Hope not. I imagine trying a different type of lubricant will tell you if that was the problem. Keep us posted, I made to change as well.

    KY
It was the generic of KY, which is the one Walgreens makes. It was the same tube I had been using but it make me burn inside also when we had sex, but I didn't relate it to the lubricant for some reason. I am going to try Astroglide now. Isn't this board wonderful? Wooohooo!
