Hi, I am doing cyberknife this week, but have been off chemo and radiation for the past three months and I still sleep alot. I generally sleep 10-14 hrs a day. Before being diagnosed I could get by on about 6 hrs. I was just wondering if any of you sleep this much when your not going through treatment. Thanks for ny input.

I never slept a lot through
I never slept a lot through chemo/radiation or since I have been off. But my oncologist was so big on exercise that I think all of the activity kept me from getting the fatigue. Plus I was working so many hours I am not sure where I would have found the time to sleep any more hours then 5-6 a night. Good luck on your cyberknife next week!0 -
Tired, a lot.
I feel fatigued most of the time, after 10 full treatments of folfiri and vectibix, and 2 of just vectibix (got a break a couple of times when we took trips). But I find it difficult to sleep. I take ambien at night and that helps, but if I try and grab a nap in the afternoon when time allows, I rarely fall asleep. But it's still good to lie down and close my eyes.0 -
Sleep
I feel like sleeping a lot. My eyes are so tired most of the time after treatment that it feels like there's sand in them and my vision is blurry for several days afterward. But, I'm lucky if I can get in 8 hours. For a couple of days after treatment, I'll be awake until about 7 the next morning and then only catch about 4 hours sleep.0 -
Hard to remember exactly, but
I recall sleeping 10-12 hours a day for a very long time. I am not sure when it happened, but now I usually sleep, at the most, eight hours a day. On days when I try to sleep more hours to get "caught up" I end up laying in bed awake or just getting up. I went to bed at 9:30 last night and even with an ostomy disaster at 10:30 which took about 1/2 hour to clean up, I was wide awake at 4:30 - and so here I am an hour later still reading posts on the forums.

Sleeping a lot
Sleeping more than usual can be because the body and/or the mind need it.
While certainly some treatments can bring on fatigue, mild depression also is a reason for sleeping a lot.

Sleep!
In the 4-6 hours I sleep I dream about sleeping 12 hours a night!
Almost always, two days after chemo I can easily get 12 hours of sleep for the next 2-3 days. I've found that there are times I have more energy than others. Your body is going through a lot, maybe follow its lead unless you just sleep too much...
