She asked if I were taking eye drops when my eyes were sore and watering. I told her I did try to use Visine and it burned so much. She said, NO! don't use that because it is a saline solution...use the gel type that contact wearers use. I think she mentioned Oasis, but said any of the brands in the contacts section of the store that are a gel would work. Just want to help my other sisters feel better too and am passing this along.

    Moisturizing drops
I was told when I was having problems in '09 to use the one that say 'moisturizing' on them. I used several different brands and all worked about the same.

Nothing .. I mean nothing, worked for me ....
my eyes, and nose teared, dripped long after chemo had finished (4 months) ...

I am happy that you found something that worked for you .. and pass along the
    information ...

Yep, I was up at that time posting!
The Dr. said it is the Decadron steroid that makes you jittery. Tonight I am taking Benedryl after I take the last 2 pill dose so I can sleep. But, I am up every day at 4:00 anyway...my little dog, Honey, always has to make an outside visit at that time and wakes me up with sloppy doggie kisses! I just don't mind it at all...I love her so much.

    Thanks Susan
I just came back from CVS and I saw there were so many to choose from I just didn't know which one to get. I ended up with "Blink Gel Tears- Lubricating Eye Drops" I haven't tried anything yet, but am going to try to get a jump on the problem by starting today.

    VickiSam:
#1 if I did give Robert a pedicure...and I am not admitting that I did you understand...that shade of pink looked great on him.
#2 I have the watery nose too with this darned chemo, and it is really a problem. Don't know if the eye stuff will help with that! Do you still have that problem?

    LOL
Just had this conversation with my daughter.. she said she wasn't having kids, just her dog..she said when her dog wakes her up at 4am she just lets her out to the yard, if a kid wakes her up at 4am she is up for the duration!

    Watery eyes
No probs during Chemo until finished four sessions then runny eyes often. Sent to specialist, he advised common side effect from chemo. Eye drops given (which could have bought over the counter) and advised from spec that this would probably just go away. Felt silly as oncol referred me as this did in fact stop after drops. However, if after eye drops this did not improve then it could need I understand further attention but rarely happens. At the time feel could have been given the simple advice to use drops instead do bothering a specialist at a time I was recovering from treatment.

That is why I love this board so much. The advice I have gleaned has helped me, and others so much as we share what we know. It is nice to have such a resource to run to.

    Hey
I had the same problem while on chemo. My oncol. noticed I was blinking alot and recommended Refresh Liquigel - it's great and took care of the problem and now I use it whenever my eyes are irritated.

This is all to funny. Got my eyes checked before starting chemo and the doc gave me the gel & moisturising drops to help with the drying. Had to go back the next month to recheck my vision and get new lens. He said this usually only happens in patients being treated for diabetis. So far I'm not having to deal with that (knocking wood, Thank you Jesus!) also. Sad thing is my eye sight seems to be ok one minute and then blurry the next even after the new lens! I haven't heard or read anything about chemo effecting the eyes, hmmm.

slowly my nose first, then my eyes dried up. It took forever, and I do mean FOREVER.
It only stopped once my chemo finished up -- which was a year (Herceptin).

Don't be shy .. I did glance in the back of the bus in between my sour appletinis, and
watched you polish Robert's toenails -- bright pink! Poor Guy, he is recovering from
hip replacement, so he did NOT have a chance with you, and those other 2 Sisters in
    PINK -- !

There is ALWAYS action on our bus rides, which makes it so much fun!

    I am SO jealous!
Ladies, I cannot begin to tell you how jealous I am of those of you whose eyes have stopped tearing. My last chemo was 2 YEARS ago and my eyes still water like a faucet. This is distressing beyond belief. I should buy stock in the Kleenex company. I cannot wear eye make-up of any kind as my eyes water unless I am sleeping. My glasses always have spots on them. My husband and 2 children (ages 22 and 19) just don't get it. I have stopped mentioning it because they really don't want to hear about it. I have had an initial consultation with a doctor who specializes in problems with tear ducts. He had no immediate answers so I need to go back for further testing. How did I get so lucky?
