    Good luck
You'll do fine. The first is always the
hardest. Think of it as "Chemo Crappies" instead of crappy chemo ;).

    Still with you !!
    Hi Aaron,

    Did I warn you...
First day is always the longest.
Hang in there, you are doing great.
I was just thinking about you and thought I would check on you. I'll check back later as we are heading to our daughter's for a birthday bbq for hubby. I'll be gone a few hours. You and I are in the same time zone, I'll see how you are holding up when I get back home.
    Keeping you close in heart..

Well day one is in the
Well day one is in the books. Feeling a little tired and foggy headed buy otherwise so far so good. Had a mild reaction to the rituxan but no biggie and so far have tolerated everything ok even though I know the worst is yet to come in a few days. Thanks for all the positive vibes sent my way, I could feel them all day long. Aaron

    Done for the day...
    Hey Aaron,
I kept you in my thoughts and prayers today and I'm so glad nothing crazy happened. I also had a small reaction to the first dose of Rituxan, but the nurse stopped the drip, increased my benedryl and 15 minutes later restarted...no problem after that first incident. I was at the clinic for 8 hours on my first chemo day....no fun! Hey...I caught 2 nice steelhead this morning, 8 and 10 pounds. Brutal night in the boat..rain..thunder...lightning..UGH. :) I'm getting ready to post a picture on my expression page. You be sure to rest, listen to your body and drink plenty of fluids..(don't forget the Senekot)...Take before going to bed. :)
    Take care...Sue

    Yay!
Yay! The first round is over. It will get easier from here, Aaron.

Now if Sue could just email her fish, we'd have "good eatin'" for dinner
tomorrow ;). I haven't cleaned a fish in years. Too easy to buy them
frozen or go to a restaurant.

Hey max, yea I'm the man
Hey max, yea I'm the man trying to pace himself. I'm not feeling that bad but I can tell a differance in energy level. Did you experance lower blood pressure ( particularly diastolic ) after treatments? I feel like I might have a mild arythmia going on but nothing major. Anyway I hope your doing well and I'll keep plugging along until I catch up with you in the land of complete remission. Keep in touch. Aaron

    B.P.

    Aaron,

I have hypertension, and my bp stayed high all the way through treatment (sometimes 200/100 when I went in for a wellness check, on bp med). My onc and I/M doc agreed that this was an anxiety spike when I went for results, news, etc.

Adriamycin can affect the heart, but it is a very rare side-effect. If you have had any pain meds, that is a more likely cause for a lowered bp. Dehydration is another possibility, as you lose a lot of fluids.

Any good oncology practice will have a doc or NP on call for questions, 24/7.

    Pulling for the Champ,

    Max

I'm not on any pain meds but it seems to have come back up to a more normal range for me this morning. I doubt dehydration is an issue as I've been drinking 80-100 oz of water each day and peeing like a racehorse all day and night. So far so good although I know it's early yet and I'm sure things will get a bit tougher with subsequent treatments. I figure if I stay focused on oral hygene, nausea meds and stool softeners, good hydration and as much exercise as I can manage I should come through this ok. Wife and I are gonna keep a good eye on the heart and lungs and report anything suspicious. Thanks for checking in max. Aaron

    Hi Aaron

I am happy to read that your BP is back to normal. Maybe it was the first time infusion fears that raised it. I also have high BP and take 2 meds for it. One is for BP the other for the enlarged left heart, from the high BP. I am sure mine will shoot through the roof when I get my first infusion.

Hopefully your day and the days to follow will be a breeze. Enjoy spending time with your wife and daughter, loved ones are the best medicine.

    Actually it went low
Actually it went low Saturday morning, I think it's the dexamethasone that I have to take twice a day for 2 days after my infusions. Not completely sure so I'll probably talk to the doc about it tomorrow.
