Daughters EC

My daughter was diagnosed about 4 years ago. She did not have surgery but had chemo and radiation. All seemed well for a while and then she developed a tumor in her upper left arm. They did surgery on it but couldn't get it all because of the nerves. She also had a rod put into her arm so it wouldn't break because the tumor was going into the bone. She has had many different types of chemo and is currently on it. Sorry I don't know the names of the drugs at this time. She was also doing clinical trials for a while but it didn't help. Her arm now has an open wound where the tumor is and is swollen and not very usable for her. She has little movement in the arm. This is very unusual and we just don't know how long this can go on. The arm may never heal or be useful. Appreciate any information or any way to turn for this. It's been such or struggle for her, she's only 47.

I really didn't want to go into total detail about it because a lot of it I didn't understand. Surgery was never suggested as an option. She had a stomach tube while undergoing chemo and radiation. It seemed to take care of the tumor in her esophagus. She was fine for a while until the lump in her arm. That was radiated and more chemo. The surgery to remove what they could of the tumor left her arm badly scared and the radiation retards healing. She has the care of a cancer center here and has been to Mayo Clinic Minnesota. The EC cancer doesn't seem to be the issue, she has made adjustments as far as what she eats and drinks. The arm issue is quite uncommon. It is metasised EC, that we know. We felt that when Mayo said go home and try more chemo that's what we would do. I don't expect it to be "fixed", I know better. I was just looking for a little support. I changed her arm dressing this morning and it just breaks my heart to see her pain when the dressing is removed. Thanks for trying to help, William.

    Open wounds...
Have you looked into Hyperbaric treatments for the open wounds? This may help it heal.

I will mention it to her. I just don't know if the skin is able to cover the wounds. By the way, she does have a husband that has been really a gem in her care. With all the expenses associated with cancer I step in for what ever I can so he can work. She's not able to drive so that's something I can do for her.
