During the PSA era, prostate cancer mortality in the USA has dropped 41% and the percentage of men being diagnosed with metastatic (incurable disease)has dropped 75%. The United States Preventative Services Task Force "USPSTF" suggests evaluation and biopsies be considered when men develop symtoms of prostate cancer. Every doctor knows it is usually incurable at that point, but the USPSTF did not have any cancer doctors on their panel.
Bottom line...PSA screening saves thousands of lives every year. It is hard to understand exactly why the USPSTF took the stance against PSA screening that they did.
Please urge your friends to get tested.
