Would you like to be on a prayer list? UPDATED 05-24-13
UPDATE: 5-22-13 Still at it! Just updating to let you all know you are not forgotten!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi all. You all know me well enough by now to (hopefully) know where I stand on religious views (I never do like that word religious). Anyways....for all my friends on the board who would like to be added to a "task prayer event" please just post the name of the person you would like prayed for down at the bottom and the physical need. You can be as specific as you would like, or just post in general (example: "H&N Cancer, spread to liver, request healing" or "post treatment, pain and fatigue is high, request strength") etc., etc. The goal is to "post the names and request" on a wall in a room and to pray EVERYDAY (one time every 24 hours) and fast one time per week (Wednesday for our team) for the need / request. May have as many as 1 - 3 persons on the "prayer task team" at first, but it may grow to more. The information will not be posted anywhere else online (except for this message thread) and the "prayer task room". For those who do not subscribe to praying to or belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, please do feel free to send us positive thoughts and well wishes. Of course we invite everone to add their name and request, but we also understand not all people subscribe to this belief. This thread is NOT meant to offend, just another way of reaching out and offering help to all of us who have been through this mean disease called Oral Cancer. The "task praying" will begin Wednesday July 18th and will continue until discontinued notice sent. The goal is to keep it going. Ahy person who would like to join at part of the prayer team may send me a private message or just post you will be on the "team" so that I can know you too are praying / fasting. Fasting schedules I realize may be different due to medical or work schedules, but the goal is to fast at minimum 1 time per week for those on the list. Best, Tim Matthew 7: 7-11 New Living Translation 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Absolutely...
While I don't have anything specifically going on, how could I ever pass an opportunity for someone to say a prayer for me.
Like many here, even though I'm post Tx, there are always moments of anxiety and concern.
So any help with doubt in those moments are always welcome.

Thanks John. It was hard to post this thread not due to I don't believe in what I posted, I was just afraid everybody would run for the hills (because I looked crazy) or they would stone me (biblical humor) ...means a lot that you would post.
You're at the top!!
Thanks,

For Diane my wife and caretaker my prayer is always for her 1st so please pray for her because we all know on this site how important our caretakers are not matter who they maybe. So God Bless you and thank you for your prayers.0 -

Doug's wife - strength / blessings for being the caretaker
Doug - continued healing / well being for many more years
The above is how you will be on the list: Sound correct?
NOTE: I would never want to hold myself out as "strong" in faith. I had my serious weak moments in all of this, but I told myself, my daughter / sons (and my wife too) I would not ask "why me" and I didn't.
I told them I just would have to trust He knew what he was doing if or not I lived or died (and I can tell you I sure wanted to be around for my wife and kids, and still do)

included on your prayer list. I believe we have the same principles and beliefs, I was raised by a very strict Mother and sometimes I feel like I'm not living up to her teachings, I do believe in God, but I don't attend Church and sometimes this bothers me

What a Great Thing to Do!
Tim:
Please count me in too! My request is for my nephew (the one who was so badly hurt when he was hit by a car last Sept.) He's doing well, but I have told my sister-in-law how wonderful the people are here and how they've been praying for Brian. When I talked to her this morning she said please ask them to pray for healing in Brian's left leg and his shoulder and the therapy he's receiving. Also will have to have surgery on one eye so it will be forward instead of wandering! He was pretty well messed up and has had upteen surgeries but Praise the Lord he has come so far not walking yet but therapy will be given for that. So it would be Brian - leg and shoulder and walking again. It is nothing short of a miracle that he survived. He will be 39 on Thursday the 19th. I hope it's okay with everyone for this request even though his need is not cancer related. His dad was my brother that passed away from a massive hemorrhage to the brain 8 weeks after my husband Charlie passed away. Thanks so much and I think this is great!

NOTE: I found a wonderful church. The pastor preaches staight out of the Bible, I presonally like that. Better yet, my daughter actually "wants" to attend the youth group as a Dad I can't tell you how delighted that makes me with my 13 year old daughter. Also, never let it bother you...you know the good Lord is always open and inviting ...never condemning .. I tell people I go to church b/c I NEED to go, not because I am a saint0 -

Yes, please!
I'm one of the few religious people in my circle of friends and family, even though I'm not traditional in my beliefs. Thank you for your kind offer.i do believe in the power of prayer and studies have shown it works even if skeptics don't understand why.
My goal is increased energy, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and clean scans starting with my first in August. Please put a good word in for my partner, Charlie, who is not a believer but has been an amazing support for me through this..
Thank you!0 -

Prayer list
Tim,
I have been listening....and seeing God's work being done here every single day. Your prayer list is a wonderful way of giving back. When you say fasting....what are we talking about....bread and water ? (no joke seriously want to know) I have faith, always have, but traditionalist I'm not. I would love to learn more of what you feel inside...heck everyone. I have been searching to find an outlet since my dear Mother passed with ovarian cancer 2 yrs ago. You see I had the honor of walking her through almost all her trials, along side of my Father and siblings. I held her (literally) as she passed from this darned old world....and left with such an emptiness. Not with God, never...but with the medical profession. And well yeap now have a cancer that doesn't have many answers and the jokes on me. Just kidding on this part of coarse...just the luck of the draw. But you all have been in my prayers every single time I read any of your posts...or read anyones blogs (ect) And Tim you are a very special person..including your dear family. I wish anyone searching the ability of finding the creators loving touch....and the knowledge to know this isn't the end, only the beginning. Katie0 -

Hi Katie ....
As for fasting: "fasting" is basically giving up something physically we want / need as a way of showing we desire to draw closer to the Lord. Though fasting is synonomus with food, it does not always have to be food. Fasting one meal or "fasting" something we like to do (I love to take my Scout into the back country often) and spending that same time in prayer or reading the Bible instead ...is a way of "giving up something" as a show of desire to draw closer, find a deeper walk, with the Lord.
I am not a trained pastor.
There is a site I really like called www.intothyword.org ...very good site! If you click on the left hand side under "Bible Reading Plans" then click on the one that says "God, The Bible & You" ...it's very informative and I think you may like it.
As for the prayer list, here is how I will have you listed:
Katie: Healing for cancer that no doctors have an answer for Let's see what He can do. Also for finding a deeper walk with Him and answers to questions you have about Him, fasting.
