hi everybody I had my peg tube put in Tuesday what was suppose to be an easy procedure ended up costing me a night in the hospital so I got out the fourth yay also costed me two missed radiation sessions which I'm sure I will make up they just got my plan set up and put me on jevity for the tube which I just got yesterday the site still hurts and with the mucous throwing up does not help but I'm hoping that it will better soon I can still eat some by mouth they put me on a fetnol patch for pain which seems to work good.I'm starting week 5 of radiation I believe and I'm suppose to have one more chemo but they don't know if they will give me the final dose or not.I'm getting burns on my neck from the radiation and I have been using aloe and aquaphor which is really greasy any other ideas? Also I'm having constant ringing in my ears which is from the chemo but other than that I'm taking it one day at a time thank you for all the support.

Matt, the PEG will calm down in a few days....
just keep the sight clean, and use the gauze until it quits seeping. I didn't have any mucous so I don't know what to do about that except what I read from other folks...breaking it up with soda, humidifiers, etc....mucous seems to be one big pain for everyone.

Go to the Health Food (or Whole Food) store, and ask for Calendula Cream for babies...I had burns on my neck, but that really seemed to help....I used aloe all day, then Calendula at night. It's greasy but nothing like Aquafor.

I've had ringing in my ears since before I ever started treatement...think it's something I'm going to have to learn to live with.

    get the good stuff
    Matt,

I am so glad the PEG is installed and functioning and all for a brief stay in the hospital (my first PEG required 12 days in the hospital).

As for the neck burn, I can not say loud enough how good “Silver Sulfadiazine” is. Mind you mine was not as bad as Tim6003, but it was the worst pain I endured (far worse then my throat). I went through the Aloe, Aquaphor, Lidocain Aloe Vera Candula and Treetea Oil mixture. None could hold a candle to the Silver Sulfadiazine. You spread it on thick and wear it like a new skin. It is messy; expect to trash a shirt and a pillow case. The excruciating pain went away when I slathered on the stuff (and stayed away as long as I kept the stuff on). If the burn is bad, get the big container (400 grams) not the little ones (50 grams).

As for ringing in the ears, I can’t hear you, I am no help. Now if you want to know about Magic Mouth Wash that’s a different story.

    Best,

    Matt

I wondered why we had not heard from you.

I always forget about the Silver Sulfadiazine, Matt
they talked about giving me some it my neck got worse...then when the machine broke down for 3 days...with a weekend following, and my neck got a much needed rest, so I never got it. Ask them for it Matt...a burnt neck is SO painful!!

    Miss my PEG
I had my PEG for a year. And I gotta say I miss it.
It made nutrition and "eating" SO much easier.
A good strong blender and you can get anything down.
Once I lost the PEG my health went down for a while because I was not able to eat enough good types of foods for the first 3 months. Eating still hurts.
The PEG was SO convenient. Fast and simple.
    I miss it.
