    Interesting research
    Thanks for posting this, Cora. The genetic testing on my tumor showed that I have one of these gene mutations -- it's a mutation in a gene that is common in colon cancer (hence, a colonoscopy next week, woo hoo). I also have the HERS2 genetic marker. The net result is that the mutation renders Herceptin follow-up treatment useless. There is so very little known about the genetics of these cancers right now, so I am optimistic that the kind of research in the article you posted will continue. Who knows? Maybe it will lead to treatments that can be more targeted.

    Clinical trial at Hopkins
    Hopefully Dave will be eligible to participate in a brand new clinical trial to research this very topic. If his tumor indeed shows this mutation, he'll be in Dr. Ronan Kelly's trail when he starts treatment in the next several weeks. This is all so very exciting. Lousy of course if you are the patient or caregiver (which I am) but at the same time I find this fascinating. When I told Dave how cool all this was when Dr. Kelly told us about his trial, Dave quipped, yeah, tragically fascinating... but seriously, we are both hoping that by his participating in this clinical trial that it will help find therapies to help those behind him in this fight.
