so glad
So glad you got the tube. As against it as I was and I am not using it that much yet, it is nice to put extra water down when you just can't force any more down and to get some extra calories from. I know what you mean by the spasms, I had them for about 10 days but I didn't take my pain meds very faithfully. It will get better0 -
PEG out
Hi tuffenuff,
Sounds like ratface has the cookbook I was missing. You are in a whole new level of the club now, once the muscle spasms and gas pains subside we will teach the secrete sign. Matter-of-fact I liked the PEG so much I had two. You can even learn to do it all by yourself. I just don’t know where to start with telling you all the fun you are going to have, so I won’t.
Enjoy the swish or drip drip of your meals. I hope it all works out fine for you.
Best,
Matt0 -

I had the muscle spasms too.....
they were like charlie horses in my gut. Altho I didn't use mine much, I felt safer having it in, because with HNC things can change so fast.

Awesome
The peg is the best back-up to have for fluids and nutrition. It can be a life saver if you find it difficult to get enough down on your own. Security blanket you will be glad to have!0 -

PEG TUBE
Hi all, got mine on Monday, ended up being a one night stopover in Hospital. Not as bad an experience as I was expecting. Yep, the cramps and spasms hit like mad on Tuseday morning, but the med that I was given for 3 days,CoCodomol ( Paracetomol and Codeine)seems to manage it.
This is the 3rd week, only 4 more to go !!!0 -

Started using it yesterday and it sure does take a heck of a lot of stress out of my day. I'm still drinking dirty sock water until my fancy water arrives tomorrow. I general, I'm already starting to feel better even though i haven't worked up to full feedings yet. I went a little too long without eating so I don't want to overdo it right away. Spasms are getting better and I'm standing up straighter today )0 -

The PEG is a lifesaver. Buzz could not have survived treatment without it. His initial feeding tube caused pain and spasms at first. His PEG was removed when we thought the cancer was gone only to be reinserted 6 weeks later when we found the cancer to be back in May. The second insertion caused no spasms whatsover even though a new opening was made. The Interventional Radiologist said that sometimes the pain is caused by irritation of a nerve. Hope those spams go away. Karen0 -

Just curious, can anyone tell me the diff between a PEG and a G tube? I wasn't sure which I had so when it was removed this morning, I asked and it was a G tube.0
