Liver cancer and throwing up

My dad is going to be 80 next month and recently found out he has liver cancer. He did well the first week knowing about it and seeming to be okay. Now, however, he's declined so much. Last night he was throwing up and I don't know why considering he hasn't really eaten for the past few days. He looks very weak. The doctor said he has about a year left but could he go sooner at this rate? Does anyone have experience with any of this that can help prepare me? Thanks for the support.
