Update from New Radiologist

I wasn't to sure about this type of radiation/procedure but because most of my lesion is growing out, rather than inside the tongue. He believes that the surgeon should be able to salvage quite a bit more of the tongue by using a smaller area of margin. This may save almost an inch all the way around the lesion. So finally I feel like I got some good news. He showed me pictures on his iPhone of almost an exact same case from one of his patients and said he is doing great. So we will see how it goes. The team seems like they are now all on the same page and communication is where it needs to be, before tomorrow.
For the first time in nearly a month I was able to sleep through most of the night.
Much Love,
~ Bob

Great News
Bob..
that soundslike great news and glad you were able to get a 2nd more favorable opinion. I just had a lision removed from the left side of my tounge yesterday, the intial biopsy a week and a half ago showed scc, it was small enought that it never showed on the PET I had on June 6th, my ENT said that was a good thing. He had to incise a bigger section than what he thought yesterday but the pathology reports came back with clear margins...I'll see my onco next wed to get her advise as to whether any other tx is required.

Hi Bob,
I am glad to hear your news. From what I‘ve learned about Brachytherapy it can be the real ticket to successful treatment.
To more good nights of sleep,
Matt
The sister of a lady I know had what was diagnosed as 'terminal' cervical cancer. After brachytherapy there was absolutely no sign of it - so I've heard how effective this treatment can be. Sounds like the plan is all coming together for you Bob - all the best of luck for tomorrow.
