It Seems We Just Began this Battle

I can't believe my husband was just diagnosed at the end of April with Stage 4 liver cancer, and our battle had barely begun. Paul passed away early in the morning on June 13th. While I am so relieved he didn't have to suffer for long, I was definitely not prepared for this - I guess I never would have been, though. Just like when I was his caregiver, I'm feeling terribly lonely and empty. My family and friends have been incredibly supportive and loving, and I'm very grateful for that, but it doesn't change anything.
I am so, so sorry that all of you are having to deal with this terrible disease also. All I can say is to express your love to those you are caring for, and enjoy whatever quality time you can have with them. I wish no one else ever had to go through this kind of pain - both the cancer victim and their loved ones.
Everyone, please be sure to take care of yourselves, too. I'll check back in with you when I can.

Lifting prayers for God's grace for you during this time, Nancy. I'm sorry to hear of your loss and am glad, too, Paul did not have to suffer long.
Please take care of yourself especially well during this time of grief and let us hear from you.0
