    Thank you Linda for posting this very informative article. I never heard of the RUC and have always wondered how the cost was figure out.

    Makes sense.
    I have questioned more than once why they have to do a pet scan b4 doing a bone scan and mri when the bone scan and mri are much more accurate for bone mets. Was told it has to do with insurance. Makes no sense to me, and this makes even less sense.

    I had never heard of the RUC
    I had never heard of the RUC either. In some ways it doesn't surprise me that a secret bunch of guys sit in a secret room and decide how much a procedure "should" cost. I wonder what would happen if doctors could bill for actual costs?

    I heard the same story! I work at the hospital and I didn't know how that was done. Maybe now there will be some changes. I am still waiting on the Health Care Reform news from the Supreme Court. Hopefully we can find a way to make health care easier to manage.
