leg weakness and hip pain
I have been lurking off and on around here for awhile. Finished tx in August 2010. NED for anal cancer.
Just an fyi, I have ignored leg and hip pain, as it seems to be a fact of our new lifes. Anyway, my ct in March showed an illiac artery occlusion, blocked artery, which happens to be about two inches from my pelvic bone, so that has been the source of (some?) of my hip and leg pain.
I have no family history of heart or artery disease, great blood pressure and cholesterol.
Doc talked about a stent, but now gave a new med to dialate arteries,, cholesterol med (even though cholesterol is fine). Just thought some of you might fine it interesting.

leg and hip pain
i had stage 4 rectal tumour 2006. chemo and a lot of radiation was given. 2008 slowly developed sacral pain now severe lower back pain and glute and piriformis weakness. sciatica developed. treating this with piriformis glute and hip stretches. lower back extensions with a back roll . infrared massage every night on hips lower back and sacral area for pain and encouraging muscle healing. visit once a week to physio for deep tissue work on problem areas. a lifestyle change and a lot of hard work but slowly improving. love to hear about similiar symptoms from others who have come through this and been left with these debilitating after effects. love this site. i don,t feel quite so alone. God Bless.0 -
Hi nonichol!
I have thought of you many times and missed seeing you here! I'm glad you are doing well except for the leg and hip pain. Hopefully, the new med will ease your pain. Congrats on being NED and I hope that will always be the case for you. Your 2-year post-treatment anniversary is coming up--congratulations!0 -

Hi Martha,
I knew I would here from you! My memory is so bad now I forget to get on here, seriously.
Also, a I went back for another ct last week, which I wasn't sure why for an arterty problem. Anyway, I misunderstood the doc, I also have extra bone on my pubic bone now. He thinks I probably fractured it slightly since radiation and the extra bone is from healing (as radiation weakens the bones).
So that explain the ct so soon again, he wanted to make sure it didn't grow. As a biopsy would be very painful. Also, it is smooth rather than narly like a tumor. He also gave me a bone scan for back up confirmation.
So I am going to take my calcium regularly as I sometimes forget. Anyone know which ones absorb best?
