Wish I had taken a lot more pictures
Looking back I wish I had a lot more pictures taken of me and those around me from the start to now. I took a few and my wife took a few at some key times, but not nearly enough to document things from treatment to now. While some pictures might not make for the most pleasant memories, I really wish I could see myself as I was then.

I had visits from friends and family during treatments that I don't remember much about, and it would be good to "see what they saw." I also wish I had taken more photos of key times in the process, as a bit of a documentary.

These days the pictures could be taken easily and deleted later if they bring back too many bad memories--I just wish I had thought to give myself the chance to have them.

Has nothing to do with Sympathy
    Mrs., Sarge

Take pictures and video if you can! I never wanted sympathy, and still don't, but it was so much easier to show people than trying to explain what the mask was all about and how the actual radiation treatment was painless.

My wife also took several pictures after the neck dissection surgery while still in the hospital so family that lived in other states could understand; a picture is worth a thousand words.

If you are interested, I posted one of my radiation treatments on YouTube so others can show it to their family for information and also for future radiation patients so they would know what was going to happen. For me, it was the not knowing that was worst then a lot of the actual treatments.

    Pictures
Yep, we got pictures...my husband on the table, my husband on the table with the techs, my husband leaving after the last treatment, the "cage" that my son wanted to keep for Halloween, etc. I do not think it a bit strange!

    I did!
My wife took two photos of me in the mask and on the table being "strapped" down.
She also took one on the last day when I rang the bell.

    God bless
    Tonsil dad,

    Dan.

    The Bell
Ringing the bell at MD Anderson was the goal and my husband did it...what a relief it was!

    Not weird!
As the above responses show, it's perfectly normal to want to document such big events. I didn't take any of the actual procedure, but did get a shot of one of the techs and the machine, and me coming home with the mask after the last zap.

And my mask is up on a shelf in our living room, freaking out unsuspecting guests to this day.

    ;)

    Be well!

    Haha!
My husband put my mask on a bookshelf in our living room when we brought it home today. I told him that was cruel because we don' want to scare our friends! Who knows though, might leave it up after all!

    To each his own,
But honestly I can't imagine why someone would want to remember it. I was asked by the tech if I wanted to take my mask home. I told her to burn the damn thing. Never, ever want to see it or remember that hell again!
