menopause symptoms

Hi; I'm 52, had my right ovary removed in April and since then have had about 10-12 hot flashes/night sweats every day not to mention the anxiety, fatique, and lack of concentration. So anyone out there have just one ovary removed and have menopause seem to go into high gear? So tired of drs right now so really don't want to call Dr and start hrt - was thinking about taking anti-depressant. Anyone with experience on this?

I had my left ovary (well, a piece of my right one too) removed about two years ago, and I did have pretty bad hot flashes right after surgery. I still get them occasionally, but not like I did in the beginning. I took hormones to do fertility treatments not long after surgery, which helped a lot, but they came back after I stopped. Eventually, I guess my body more or less adjusted.

I've been on an anti-depressant (Paxil) for about five years for anxiety and panic attacks (and it has helped me tremendously by the way). My cancer diagnosis was about a year and a half ago when I was nearly 50 and still perimenopausal, and my surgery included a total hysterectomy. I've been fortunate enough to not experience any hot flashes or night sweats and I could be wrong but it's my understanding that my medication could be responsible for my lack of menopause symptoms. Sometimes I'll suddenly feel warm (usually when the day is already hot) but the feeling goes away very quickly within a minute or so. It's like my body is trying to have a hot flash but can't.
