colonoscopy for adult children
So glad you are clear! I have colon cancer with mets to the liver. Just a month out of diagnosis. Tried liver surgery first, but didn't work (too many tiny tumors not detected on PET scan) so going with Plan B - chemo beginning next week. Our onco suggested age 40 for our kids for the first colonoscopy and then every five years. Our son - age 37 - has opted with his GP to go ahead and have one now. I really agree.0 -
Great
Glad all was clear. Enjoy your time with your daughter.

Happy Early Birthday!danker said:colonoscopy
Because of me. all my children are getting on at age 50. I didn't have my first one until age 77, and it was a disaster. But I survived it all. Next week celebrating 80th birthday with family. Good luck to you all!!!
Wow...what a celebration you will have!
Hope you have some help blowing out the candles on the birthday cake...or it might get a little singed!
And may you celebrate many many more.

Great news
So happy to hear that all is clear.
As for you daughter, it is a tough call. She should just be aware that if she suffers any gastric issues that a colonoscopy may be called for regardless of age.
Hopefully in the next 12 years they will either find a cure or at least find a way to detect it's possibility without such an invasive test.

Thank you for the birthday wish. As I see you on so many posts, I wish I knew about you Back in February of 2010 when I began Radiation with simultaneous chemo. Your support whould have made it so much easier. My daughter is comming a week from today to stay with my wife who has alzheimers. I'M going to Las Vegas to meet my sons and grandsons to celebrate 80. What would we do without children??
And to think I often wanted to give them away! LOL0 -

You rock, girl!
Great news on the clear scope! My daughter just turned 28 also, so I can understand your concern for when to get it done. I'd say no later than 40 and sooner if she develops any sort of problems such as excessive diarrhea and especially any signs of blood.0
