14mm lymph node enlargement after open Partial nephroctomy

I am a 42 years old lady and had my open partial nephroctomy surgery on dec 2011, a tumor was enclosed within the end of left kidney was removed with a part of my kidney. Since then i had lots of pain, fluid in the surgery part due to inflimmation. I had ct scans done and MRI done too which shows a 14mm enlarged lymph node close to the kidney. It got smaller with antibiotics but it is still there and i am really worried cos of it showing in my scans.
Doctors still following it up and its five months now.
Pain in the surgery part is still there, especially after sitting for long hours in the office,,, am still feeling the pain when turning on the surgery part while sleeping ,,, also still had the numbness on my tomy ( no feeling on my left side due to surgery.
Did anyone of you guys had the same suffer ,,, i found a lot of encourgement when reading through your discussions and it gave me the full support all the way.

    I can't speak to the difficulties you have/are experiencing as my surgery was a full nephrectomy done laparscopically and I didn't have any of the issues you do. What I did want to mention is that at 14mm your lymph node is only about the size of a marble and should not be of concern, while this may well be related to the surgery, it is not likely related to the RCC. Continue to trust and follow up with your doctors would be my advice.

    Hi Alreem
    I am pretty sure most normal lymph nodes measure 1cm or less 1cm equals 10mm ,its probablly nothing but it is a little larger than normal and i would keep an eye on it

    I had a partial nephrectomy
    I had a partial nephrectomy on my left kidney by open surgery. My surgery was on 15 September 2011 and just recently the numbness has gone away. I too had pain when I turned on that side during sleep, but seems like in the last month or so it seems more normal. I remember waking up and my side where I had the surgery felt like leather and was numb but now even that is gone. When my side would hurt after at the end of the day I would make my self go walk around the block and that seemed to help.

    I can't speak to the other issues, but just the surgery part that is just now starting to fell normal. I hope this helps.

    Partial Nephrectomy
    Hi Alreem,
    I also had a partial in December. I'm 57. I have really noticed some of the symptoms you mentioned improving in the past few weeks. I still can't sleep on the incision side for long periods of time. I also have trouble staying in the same seated position for long periods of time and some areas around the incision are still numb. However, ALL of these symptoms have improved dramatically in the past month.
    I'm a serious cyclist, so I've always been able to stand from a squatting position just by using my legs. Well, until the other day, I always had to push up with my arm to stand up from a squat, but I was stunned and happy when I just stood up the other day using only my legs! I was super happy. Small victories!! I've also worked up to 50 mile bike rides!
    I'm thinking it's just a matter of time and working through it. Hang in there.

    Happy to share your victory cos i felt also little improvement during last month.
    This surgery pain is unique ,,,, hope i never need it again
    I will be doing a pet scan in a month time and i hopethe existing lymph node disapear ,,, am praying for a relieve from worries.
