Cryoablation of small tumor...
Hi Doug,
Hang in there buddy, remember what the recovery from your nephrectomy was like, you will be feeling better much sooner this time. Hopefully the two smaller ones stay that way and aren't a problem ever, but you will be ready IF they don't. In the meantime they may find the magic bullet we all are praying for.
Stay positive and keep the faith,

So glad it went well and you're on your road to recovery. Good luck with the follow-up. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
I hope that "few years" without anything more required turns out to be a whole lot of years Doug. When it comes to recovery of function, kidneys seem to be good at stepping up to the plate, so to speak! I'm confident your kidney will pass with flying colours in a month or so's time.0 -

Good job Doug. Resident tough guy. You'll be over this in no time.0 -

Another step in the journey Doug. Hang in there, we're pulling for you and thinking about you! --David
I would like to thank my CSN friends for your support and encouragement during this time. A lot of this seems so unreal and makes you wonder how they came up with all these treatments. I feel very confident in my care team at St, Joseph's Hospital. I have never experienced the level of care that the staff showed during the Cryoablation procedure that was preformed. It's been 3 days since the procedure and I feel great now. Kinda felt like a slight case of the flu the first couple of days. But today I was back helping coach my grandsons T-ball team. I really think this is a great procedure for the small tumors that we experience....0 -
Cryoablation of small tumor round 2
Last Fridays visit at St. Josephs Hospital was with mixed feelings. The CAT scan confirmed the Cryoablation (freezing) of the 2.7cm. tumor last month was successful, it is gone!! But the CAT scan also showed 2 more masses that are approximately 1 cm each. We will go and have those suckers frozen too. My radiologist will be my best friend for a while. My doctors, wife and I decided that this is the least evasive procedure to preserve my remaining kidney. This procedure destroys less of the functioning kidney tissue.
This has been a long year. This time last year all I thought I was having was sinus problems. Since then I've had sinus surgery, a left nephrectomy, Cryoablation of one tumor in remaining right kidney. Now one more round of Cryoablation on July 20th. We hope and pray this will be the last procedure for a while.0 -

Hi Doug,
Good to know that things worked well the first time around and hope that the second round finally kicks the last of it into oblivion. Keep that fighting attitude, having the little ones around is a big help there, love the new pic.
Hang in there,

Doug,
You have had a rough go of it. I hope this time you get rid of it for good! I'll be thinking of you on July 20th. Keep on fighting!

I had my second cryoablation procedure yesterday. My last ct showed where the first procedure killed the mass but it still shows up on x-ray. The first tumor they treated was 2.7 cm. The two treated yesterday were less than a cm each. The way Dr. Krebs, my interventional radiologist, explained it to me was the cryo only destroys .5mm of live kidney tissue outside of the tumor. With only the one kidney at this point I am very pleased with the treatment. They preformed the procedure at 9 AM yesterday and I was home by 4 PM.
Will find out in 6 weeks whether I'll have a NED for a while!!!!! I'll recommend this treatment to all.
Today I graded my driveway, repaired my chainsaw, repaired some chairs, did some honey-dos, and now playing with grand boys.
Thanks to all for your prayers and words of encouragement.
