Lets go back to the spine and radiation late effects
Lets go back to the spine and radiation late effects. My T6/T7 vertabrae are compressed a bit from late effects of radiation 1.5 years ago on back and chest to treat the RL Upper Lobe tumor and chest lymphs. It is not cancer mets as far as they can tell via a bone scan then MRI, but to be 110% certain they would have to do a biopsy...and thats not going to happen at this time, I suppose unless I really push.
I have a CT in early July so I think I will wait. The pain is about a 3 all day, but certain moves spike it up to about and 8, so I just dont make those moves anymore!! It's a **** to roll over in the bed!. I cant see this getting better on its own at all?
Question....has anyone had this issue and what did they do about it?
Thanx!
Dave

Sounds exactly like the pain I had.
Whoa Dan,
yours does sound exactly like my symptoms. My caretaker cousin said that I was screaming aloud even as I slept Talk to your internist or gp and don't make the mistake I did by waiting for next appointment. Ask for a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. When I finally saw my rads onco she told me to get a referral from hemonc for a kyphoplasty. He wrote the referral but I had to wait a month for an appointment. The pain finally got so steady and bad a nice er doc admitted me on a Saturday and I had the surgery on Sunday. The procedure is performed by an orthopedic surgeon and can be done outpatient. They insert a balloon into the affected vertebrea which is inflated until the bone is properly aligned, then remove it and fill the space with bone cement. PAIN RELIEF IS IMMEDIATE!!!!!
With your history they will probably want to bx it and keep you overnight. Well worth a nights hospital stay. By the time of my surgery the problem had spread to 3 vertebrae. Don't put it off and don't forget your gp or internist is still part of your medical team.0 -
