Vertigo/dizziness

a little
I did a little, I only had one session so far, a few days after I felt light headed kind of like medicine head. Took a nausea pill and it went away.0 -
Dizzy former blonde
I had a severe vertigo attack 9/10/11 that subsided but endured until this April. I experienced vertigo to some extent every single day. Chemo never made me vomit, but vertigo had me tossing up in the general direction of a rapidly revolving toilet that just wouldn't stay still long enough for me to hit it.
Was such a blessing when it stopped.0 -
yup
Oh goodness yes, so much so I had to go to physical therapy to help me with it. Some chemotherapy kills or perhaps I should say stills the hairs in the ear canal that aid in balance and hearing, hence the vertigo. Please speak to your doctor about the dizziness as they should be made aware to ensure you are okay.
Hugs,

I've already been through physical therapy. It's not my crystals, they don't need to be realigned. I've had a brain MRI and I've been through all kinds of stuff and nothing works. Actually, I'm talking about long term side affects. I finished my treatment Dec. 2003. Have you heard of Post-Chemotherapy cognitive impairment?0 -
I have had vertigo naturally
I have had vertigo naturally (from Meniere's disease) for some reason for 17 years now. I have seen doctors while in two different hospitals for inpatient treatment. I have seen countless acute care clinics, ENT doctors and audiologists. I, too, went thru the Vestibular Therapy and failed. One hospitalization happened when I was visiting my brother 4 hours from home. They put goggles on my head, attached to a tv screen, then shook my head! They said it was some new treatment and was assured it would cure me. They were quacks.
So now I live with it. I get severe attacks, but have it mildly every day. When it is really bad I take Valium, for lighter attacks, I take prescription Meclizine. My choice for anti-nausea med is Phenergan (Promethazine). I have not been able to sleep on one pillow for years, have to be careful in the shower when I tip my head back or bend to wash/shave legs. I keep things I use the most at no higher than shoulder level so I don't have to look up, if I do, 99% of the time I need help.
So sorry to hear you have this, too.0 -

Chemo brain now has a study that proves short term difficulties so you are not the only one. I can never come up with the things that I want to say. It drives me nuts!:)0 -

I was recently (about 4 mths ago) DX'd with hypoglycemia. I tend to be 'wobbly' when I get up from sitting if it's been 3 - 4 hrs since eating something. Eating something handles it.

I have had some light headiness when my blood pressure drops. Do you have bp problems at all?0 -

It's a terrible feeling isn't it? I feel like I'm too young to feel this old!! Can't even walk the mall or look in stores. Moving my head up and down really gets me. I don't get sick though and the docs have not prescribed any meds. The Neurologist tried to name it "Migraine varient" and prescribed Topamax. I took that for 3 weeks, made matters worse. Felt depressed and memory was worse. I too have had the goggles and the head manipulation to no avail. I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone. Nobody gets how awful it is.0 -
This is going to sound crazy, but....lizzie17 said:i have
positional vertigo and something about the hairs in my ears. Mine is upon laying down or getting up. Been happening since November.....and wish it would go away!!+++
I understand the Meneire's disease...my mother suffered from that...that's a diagnoses...
Here's the crazy part....Have any of you ladies been on a cruise? My sister in law went on her first cruise 2 1/2 years ago...after 3 days when they got home she still felt like she couldn't get her "land legs" and was dizzy, vertigo and light headed..long story short for one year she saw every doctor known to man...went through the trying to fix the crystals, acupuncture, saw a neurologist, had an MRI....etc...one doctor had the gall to say he thought it was " all in her head"...you'd have to know her but her reply was "Well yeah!" she got to where she was afraid to even drive and spent about a month just lying still on the couch...
.Now-to the point...she got sick of it and started researching her symptoms...it was all caused from being on the ship for a week..it's called
Mal Disembarkment....if you want, just google it.....she took her research to her neurologist who then said he had heard of it, but he didn't connect the dots and apologized....she is much better now, fully functional...but she does have small episodes daily...and it goes away completely when she flies or is in the car...in motion...needless to say her cruising days are over...
Just a thought ladies...hope you all find relief..

I know just how you feel when you say you are too young to feel this old. I feel the dizziness also. One of the symptoms of chemobrain on the internet is problems with depth perception. I wonder if this is the feeling we get like we are in a warp when looking around like in a mall. I have trouble describing this feeling to doctors, probably the chemobrain. I wish they had a clue. I think I know more about it then they do. I've just been getting the run around for ten years. I'm at my wit's end.0 -
NSAIDS
I had my one and only true vertigo experience after taking mobic (an NSAID). Many of the NSAIDS (aleve, advil, etc) can do this. Mobic is the only one that ever did it to me. Just wanted to point it out.0 -

I have dizzinies sometimes when I first get out of bed.Just a slight blur of vision. Can't walk straight.I've been drinking less and my metabolism needs alot of fluids. So I try to drink more.Mine can't be chemo because I didn't have it.
When I went to the oncologist a few months ago my blood work was good.Cant be low on iron etc.Years ago when I told my doctor about dizziiness when getting up she said your blood pressure dropped.I'm sure with high blood pressure it could happen too.

Your blood pressure dropping can do this Lynn. This has happened to me and it is scary.0 -
Yeah!
Initially I thought
Yeah!
Initially I thought it was an ear problem because a swim 2 - 3 times a week, it was first intermittent then became daily, then the constant nausea pushed me over the edge so I called the Onc. He sent me for a brain MRI. It turns out I have a sinus infection, inflammation in the sinuses and a cyst. I have no other symptons of sinus problems other than recently, being rather hot and fatigued with a stiff neck (which also could be a number of other things).
The MRI also turned up cerebral ischemia disease. Not sure what is contributing to what and am hoping to get follow up appointments and get the help I need.
I am relieved I called the Onc. first to find out what I should do or who to go to, he wanted to rule out brain mets with a MRI. If I had gone to my pcp first, I am not sure I would have gotten the MRI and found out about the other problems so quickly. My recommendation is to follow up on it anyway. From my experience it is disconcerting to live with daily verigo, dizziness and lightheadedness.0 -

Always dizzy
I have had dizziness since I finished chemo back in 2005. At first, it would just come and go but never last very long. Now it is every day. It makes it hard to walk and drive. I have been to so many doctors and they only thing I have been told is that I have nerve damage in my ear from the chemo and eustachian tubes that don't work right. The cardiologist wants to do a tilt table test to see if I have something called POTS. It is all very frustrating as my husband is currently fighting stage 4 Colorectal cancer and I need to take care of him. I am always looking for a solution to this problem. One day I hope. Blessings, Teri0 -

vertigo
I have been suffering from vertigo or a vestibular disorder for 2 years, I have been on chemo since 2014 but chemo stopped working a couple of months ago. I am now on a clinical trial. When I am in the dark it is like I am drunk. I have not been able to function normally and when I get a bout of the vertigo it is absolutely horrible and so depressing. I am doing therapy for the vestibular disorder and it does seem to be helping. I am so afraid that people think I am drunk or on drugs.
