Its been a hard long road

in Testicular Cancer #1
hello everybody.
Im wanting to share a story about the long road me and my boyfriend have had. we are both 21 yrs old, and my boyfriend has testicular cancer.He was diagnosed back in December of 2011. It all began with him having left shoulder pain,so bad to the point where he was unable to sleep and do most daily activities. we all know how hard it can be to have a man go to a simple doctors apt for a simple check up.But He was in so much shoulder pain he drove himself to the hospital one night in December. He was in the hospital for a week and then we heard the bad news. We couldnt believe a shoulder pain could end up being cancer.although he has testicular cancer,his testicles are fine. the cancer is located in his chest in the left upper quadrant.Doctor stated that the tumor is a size of a grape fruit.The tumor grows rapidly and at a fast paste so hes had it a few months prior to December. He started chemotherapy in January, he had four sessions of chemo. Hes just recently had a PET scan and a CAT scan and the tumor is still the same size from December.
The next step is surgery to have the mass removed from his chest.We are so scared about this surgery because it is a risky surgery due to the fact of where the mass is located.(near chest organs)im hoping for the best and i know god will continue holding our hands.
If anyone has suggestions please let me know
I wish the best to those who are going through the same experience.

    That sounds scary. I had an RPLND surgery and know the feelings of uncertainty. I will pray for you both.

    hello Roddy
    yea it is a very scary experience,especially at our age.if you dont mind me asking how are you recovering from the surgery? are you constantly in pain or just simply sore from the procedure...? like what should we expect.

    Hang in There!!!
    Hang in there, My sitation with TC was very similar. Back in Oct/Nov 2009 I went to have a hernia checked out. I had no pain, symptoms or discomfort, I was also 8 years out of the age bracket for TC (I will be 45 in 5 days). After a CT scan they found several lymph nodes behind my left pelvic bone that were the size of a golf ball, nothing "down low". I had no surgery but 3 rounds of BEP. Last Tuesday, I had a check up, CBC (blood work), chest x-ray and CT scan and all is still clear. Over the past 16 months, I have went back to the gym 4 days a week and I play hockey 3 nights a week. Stay positive, I know some days are tough. We are all here to coach each other through this.

    It has been two months since the surgery. I was on pain killers for a month and a half for the surgical pain but mostly for back pain from sitting in the darn hospital bed...hahaha. Other than that the recovery is not so bad. He'll do great. Hang in there.

    so it seems to be really not that bad, well thats a little of a relief. ya cant say a hospital is my favorite place to be...lol! glad to hear your recovery was a good turn out.

    Good to hear you are doing well.

    So you had the primary tumor in your pelvic bone? What the did the doc say? Its very strange...
