    Wow
Betty Sue, it is just amazing what this beast can - and cannot - do. I tend to go to the "dark side" and need to move from that. Of course, we know this is serious. I appreciate your response and encouragement and wish both of you well. Thank you.

    An update, with thanks
My friends, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my husband is in the "4 percent" whose H&N cancer has decided to move on. He will be seeing another doctor, get a pet scan and a biopsy with these tests moving quickly. He is sixty years old and feels good. We are in shock. Although we have never met physically, your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated if you don't mind me asking. Thank you, thank you, for being on this board.

    Of Course We Don't Mind
Just sorry you didn't get better news Wednesday. Don't blame you if you want to scream and cry because of the unfairness of it. Might be a good thing - Rage and vent - then get your game face back on, and start fighting the next round. I hate cancer - hope you guys beat it down.

    Hello all,
    I just have

    Hello all,

I just have gotten back on to this forum. I am sorry to hear about Karegivers news. John is right we have to keep a positive mind about this. It is hard but that is the only thing that keeps me going. Prayers and thoughts from friends and family help keep it up also.

I was diagnosed last June 2011 with Advanced Parotid Gland Acinic Cell Cancer. It has spread to 6 lymph nodes. Had surgery they removed the whole Parotid gland and was able to do great with the facial nerve. They also removed 47 lymph nodes. Had 30 radiation treatments.

I had pneumonia at the beginning of February and seemed to be getting over that when I began having problems breathing again. Cat scan ordered and we found that the lump that was thought to be scar tissue on the side of my face on the left side again was a cancerous tumor. Dr. said it is operable but the scan also showed spots on my lungs. He also found something in my chest. My breathing seems to have gotten a bit better still have my days but it all feels like it is in my chest not my lungs.

I have also found out from my mom that when I was in Kindergarten I was diagnosed with Hystoplasmosis. So we are just hoping that is all this is. I see a Pulmonary Specialists on Monday and my ENT on Wednesday. Just getting antsy last time the cancer was very aggressive and grew so fast. It is growing now I can feel it and having problem already with my facial nerves with numbness and eye problems. So I am eager to get the tumor out if they are going to do surgery.

I am thinking of all of you and know I care.

For this board. Christine, please know (I think you do) that you have lots of positive thoughts and prayers coming your way. Please, keep us updated when possible. Skiffen? Well, he is my go-to person since we started last year. He seems to be there for everyone. After a couple of PMs with him the other night, we're feeling a bit better (sometimes you need an **** kick - meant in the most loving way possible, John!) Briefly, we left the onc. office on Wednesday night with very negative news and told to set up an appt. with thoracic surgeon to determine if it is mets or a new cancer. After we met with thoracic doc, we came out with some hope. (Could it be because our son is graduating from college this week?) We are certainly hoping for and clinging to sarcoidosis...husband will have biopsy of lymph nodes and lungs on 5/10. When I Google sarcoidosis, so much of it fits. The best part is as I am typing "sarc...", "sarcastic quotes" pops up on Google. Oh, could I EVER go there! Can't say it enough, MANY THANKS for your thoughts and prayers!

And I also hope the 5/10 results are good.

I got a bit of a shock after my last Onco appointment- she did a first by ordering my first lung xray with the specific instruction it's to look for signs of mets in the lungs. That'll be in happening in July. Part of the life beyond is the increased percentage of chance for a recurrence, and that might be somewhere else, which includes the lungs for NPC, which I have/had.

Yes, hopes and Prayers are en route.

    Sending Hope
Hoping you get good news at the Pulmonary doc and ENT. Also hoping you get your surgery to remove the tumor very soon - I'm with you - be nice if they'd remove it NOW.
