Thank you all for the Birthday Wishes!! - Silly story

Until the last couple of Friday birthdays it has been "Good Friday" so I always thought that would counteract any bad luck, wrong. It was a Good Friday, my birthday, about 12 years ago when my husband planned a fishing trip and wasn't home for my birthday, my dryer broke leaving me hanging clothes through my house to dry at 10:00 pm, a religious goods store I "had" to get into was closed for Good Friday, wouldn't be open til Monday.

I have a wonderful daughter who at that time was still in high school. She and her best friend borrowed the other girl's mom's cake decorating gear and made and decorated a birthday cake. They nearly killed the other girl's brother for messing up the frosting and making them have to fix it.

The transport to my house scared them, they were sure the cake was going to collapse, but they got it there in one piece, sang Happy Birthday, lit the candles, and proceeded to try to burn my house down. They used ALL relighting candles ......burned the whole top layer, and ruined the bottom layer. I finally grabbed extra long bbq tongs, a bucket of water, welders gloves and pulled the candles off 1 by 1. I remember sitting on my front step, talkimg to my sister on the phone as the smoke alarms screamed and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The house stunk all weekend, LOL!

    Oh my goodness. Now THAT is a birthday story. That beats any story I could even begin to think up. If nothing else, it has provided you (as well as the rest of us) with a laugh. Thanks for sharing.

    The Best Memories
    If it would have been a perfect day with a perfect cake, it would have been an ordinary birthday. This was an exceptional day for an exceptional birthday that continues to give you a good memory along with a good laugh. Those are the best memories.
