Another surgery for Jim - update

My question is, "If this is cancer why didn't the PET he had two months ago pick it up when it picked up the miniscule spot on his lung?"
Jim's surgery went very well. Got path report tonight, Benign! But a large polyp so they want him to have a colonoscopy in a few months. They removed a foot of his intestine and his appendex. Thanks for the prayers.
Debbie

My positive thoughts,
My positive thoughts, prayers and wishes are with you and jim for the results to be inflamaton, and no cancer to be found. I know that the wait for the answer can be nerve wracking, but take some deep breaths, and keep your head in the positive zone; it's too easy to fall into the negative. Did Jim have an eyes to thighs, PET/CT scan two months ago?

in reference to your question about PET scan. My mom had a sore on her tongue since april of 2011, then PET in June which came clear, then biobsy in September showed recurrance. Now she had a PET 2/13/12, only one spot on her tongue came up positive for cancer and now 2 months later she had an MRI and it shows more cancer in another spot. What I'm trying to say is that PET scan is not as accurate as they say. Plus SCC is not always growing slow. Anyway, I hope that for Jim it is only inflamation, will keep you in my prayers. -

Heading your way....hoping for something on a lighter note as for the stomach situation.
BTW, inflammation will show up on a PET also. So more than likely, nothing was going on at the time of the recent PET scan.
Best,
John
I hope things will come out ok for you guys. You both have been dealing with alot. I will be praying for you both. Be sure to get some mental rest.. XOXO
