I'm kind of dealing with that right nowGoalie said:Accra, Ghana
at present. But I'll be back soon. In the past three months it has been Lebanon, Mexico, Guatemala, and Ghana. Lest you think this is fun, let me dissuade you; it is work. Nevertheless, it is great to be well enough to go places and work long hours and eat. Eating is still a challenge and I still get a lot of rice and baked potato (not fries) and lunch is a particular challenge when you can't really eat bread. And I foobricate everything.
But, I have read a few of my emails from a year or so ago when I was not that long out of treatment but had to travel and work anyway. They were saying things like "Managed to have some solid food today along with soup. Had to have only two Boosts and one protein milkshake." Nowadays I get nearly all of my nutrition from real food and only supplement once in a while when schedules don't work (which can happen when you are in some other country). And I also have a Boost when I get home from playing hockey at midnight (when not in Africa, I mean) though I am just to the point where my mouth understands ice cream again. What a joy!
May you all get as well as I feel. Doug
Mywife's business involves a lot of international travel. A lot has been put off while I got through this last treatment. Now it can't wait, and I'm still doing the liquid diet routine. England and Germany coming soon. No problem there as liquid diet has been arranged for me by people in residence. Some of the travel won't be so easy, Columbia for instance. Delaying those trips a bit more, hoping to be past the oral ulcer stage in time for the travel.
The way my mouth has been since my surgery a year and a half ago, I pity people who have to survive on a rice diet.... Rice and I haven't gotten along for awhile.

Saturna to be exact. I will be visiting her in July.
I live in Decatur, GA, 30033. I've tried to update my info and get a pin on the map, but have not been successful. Any help on how to make that happen?

I spent some time there...Panama Canal area actually.
Not especially a treat when doing jungle survival, jungle warfare, and water borne training... They have some weird azz bugs, birds and anphiphians there..not to mention some bad azz snakes, oh and don't forget the blood sucking vampire bats.
I'm kinda partial to Central Florida LOL...

There may be lots of bugs in Central America but the worst bite I have ever had was from a (presumably)spider in North Central Florida. I have a big scar on my neck two years later. Anyway, not sure how to get on the map but, my husband was diagnosed with HPV base of tongue cancer last September. He was treated in Houston and we return there next week for his first check up. We live near Fairbanks, Alaska.0 -

You do know the mosquitoe is the State Bird of Florida....LOL.
Alaska...even at only one post, you are the first from Alaska on the map...
Welcome, great folks here, hoping that congrats are in store for the hubbies first scan and follow-up.

Just wanted to let you know that April check up was fine...Lots of radiation effects, thrush, and had to have a node biopsy but all normal thank goodness. Now, Jack's ENT in Fairbanks wants him to have a PET scan scan so we are off to Anchorage on Thursday for that. Fairbanks has some great docs and equipment but no PET scanner...Keeping my fingers crossed. I wish I could say that there are no other cancer patients here but, unfortunately there are, they just have not found this wonderful resource but I am getting the word out.0 -

Hoping the very best on the PET....
Just realize there may be some residual show up which isn't uncommon at all on first PET scans.
So hopefully it'll be clean and clear, but incase not, try not to think the worst.
