XyliMelts for dry mouth

Hi Cherri
This is a safe product. the active ingredient is xylitol, which is the same as is found in the gum. I've not tried it, but it was discussed some time back in another thread, maybe two months ago. the only criticism I remember is that someone said it got "gummy" and was therefore annoying to them left in the mouth, as it is. I'd say, if it works, go for it!

The dry mouth doesn't really bother me at night, I guess because I have always been a mouth breather. If I do wake up I'll just rinse with water, then biotene then go back to bed! But during the day I chew gum all the time either the xylitol gum (epic or zellies) or trident extra care! Tooth decay maybe inevitable, but I'm gonna try my best to prolong it! I'm only 40!!

I was given a large bottle to try a few week's back & the work very well for me! They are very good for diabetics as the are made with a natural plant sweetener! However, it can cause upset tummy for some but so far it has been excellent! Here in Canada a large bottle at my cancer centre is only $10.00 & came with a purse size tin for travel! You need to use 12 a day minimum to keep your mouth moist. At first it burned my throat but after that I gave it a second chance & it is fine. I like the fact that it is easy to carry around & if you are travelling it is awesome. Love my dentist as she is so thoughtfull! I tried the gum but prefer the mint's! Hey whatever work's is fine by me & I am tired of lugging around the water bottle lol!0 -

We have the gum but Andy is not a gum chewer. So, interesting that you need 12 a day. Is it only peppermint?0 -

Apparently the mint's come in a couple of other flavor's besides mint! One being lemon! However, I took the mint & my oncology dentist said 12 per day! I am not a gum chewer either. I suppose the only thing to do is to try & see if it work's for you! At my local cancer centre the dentist said first jar is complimentary, it is a large jar which contain's 400 mint's. they charge $10.00 after that! I have tried salese which is an oral sof lozenge but prefer the mint's. The best thing to do is to try & see which work's best for you.

I've been using Xylimelts for at least 2 years. They help me quite a bit. My brother is my dentist and he says he sees no problems from that perspective either.
