Cyberknife vs. traditional radiation
I have on and off these boards since 2008. I have been fighting the beast since then with little break. I just had surgery to try to remove four tumors that chemo didn't get. Unfortunately one was in a life threatening place and could not be fully removed.
My Doctor is suggesting radiation and chemo. I had this same treatment last summer for a para-aortic lymph node. I was told it worked, but later found out it didn't. They removed the para-aortic growth two weeks ago....
Now, I don't know what to do. I know a lot of ladies have had success with cyberknife. It is not offered in my area. I mentioned it to my oncologist at one point and he just kind of laughed....He is not one you can easily talk to.
I am supposed to start chemo next week already. I am so tired. They removed my spleen, gallbladder and a few other small cancers.
I know Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital do cyberknife, as do a lot of other places, but I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure if my radiation oncologist will tell me the truth, since he doesn't do it....
Any input greatly appreciated. I am beginning to lose hope. By the way, my CA125 was only 26 when all the new cancer was discovered.

Dear Froggy1
I don't have any personal experience with either the cyberknife or radiation, but wanted you to know that I'm sending you good thoughts and prayers. You've been through so much over the last four years and I can only imagine how tired you are, but please don't give up hope that your doctors will find something that will work for you.
Take care,

Thanks for the good wishes Kelly. I have always had hope, but I am starting to lose it...I am getting into the "tough times." I'm hoping a plan will come to me soon.0 -

Cyberknife
Hi froggy1,
The Cyberknife is a fantastic innovation without equal for many cancer tumors.
Suggest you consult with a cancer center that offers the Cyberknife. Don Fuller MD a radiation oncologist in San Diego is a great place to start.
There are over 100 Cyberknifes in the US. They are located coast to coast.
I was treated for prostate cancer in 2008 with the Cyberknife, no side effects and lowering PSA.
Best Wishes,

Thanks for the response, Fred. I am just in the info seeking stage now, but don't have time on my side. San Diego is a little far, but my husband is willing to take me anywhere. I am surprised that most hospitals don't offer it and wonder if it is money related...
Best wishes for continuing good health.0
