Hi guys,
I am from Michigan, and i just joined this forum couple days ago when i accidentally found the link, this forum has provided me lot of information and very helpful and encourage.

Just some background, I went through a laparoscopic radical nephrectomy surgery about three week ago, to remove 5cm stage 1 grade 2 cancer tumor. However, i started to find some blood in my urine last two days, there are very small amount, sometime the naked eyes hardly can see if not paying much atttetion to it.

I just came back from doctor office, the doctor confirmed that there is blood in the urine, but he has no idea what it could be, not UTI, so, he sent me home and asked me to observe it if it gets heavy then call him.

Frustrasted! I was ok with my urine for the past three weeks after the suregry, the last urinalysis was done just a week ago, it came back normal and the left over kidney is functioning well.

Is anyone here has experienced any similar case post surgery ? I wonder is there any part of my organ goes wrong?

Any advice or thought would be much appreciated.

Which doctor told you to go home and wait for it to get heavy? Was it the urologist that did your surgery? Your family practitioner? If it was your family practitioner you should see your urologist about it. Blood in the urine could be related to the cancer or to the surgery itself or it could be something else entirely. But if blood was visible in my urine I wouldn't sit around and wait for it to get heavier. I'd go back to my urologist (or see a different urologist) and make sure all the necessary tests are done, including another urineanalysis. Easy for a doctor to say wait and see. He or she is not the one with blood in the urine. Sometimes we have to be persistent with our health care providers to get them to move on things.

    My urologist
    Hi Mike,
It was from my urologist, the one who perfomred my surgery, he said he did everything complete in the surgery, the other kidney is now functioning good, , and he has no idea why, but he has no intention to perform any testing on meat all, He asked me to come back on the follow up appotintment, which is another 3 more months and do a further check up.

I wonder I should go with other urologist at this time?

I recalled that my Ctscan of abdomen showed I have ovary cyst, I brought it up yesterday, he ruled out the possibility. My husband and I went home and kneeled down and prayed to the Lord, because we do not know what is next.....

Like I said, if it were me, I wouldn't wait. If you're in the position to do it, try another urologist. It couldn't hurt. It seems to me that if a urologist says he doesn't know why you have blood in your urine and wants you to wait another 3 months, it may be time to try another urologist or your gynecologist regarding the cyst.
    Good luck,
    Mike
