Teal Warriors
Recently my sister decided to become a co-chair for a breast cancer awareness event in our hometown...of course this hurt my feelings and she decided to point out my bitterness. So, instead of being bitter I have decided that I have no right to complain about the lack of Ovarian/Uterine Cancer Organizations if I didn't do something about it myself.
This being said, while I have always been involved with the local Relay For Life events as just a Survivor, this year I have created a team named the Teal Warriors. I am tired of standing still and being as Silent as this killer.
Our local Relay For Life event is June 23 in Mansfield, OH. If you are from this area or live close by we would love for you to come join us. If you can't join us for the walk, join us to help fight this beast.
For questions regarding the walk or just to talk please feel free to email me....

Thanks!!!!

Dear Rebekah
I wish you great success on your Relay For Life. Last year for my 5 year survival, I formed a teal team for our local walk/run. I can't tell you how uplifting and affirming the whole experience was for me. We plan to do it again this year. Congrats on 3 years NED!!!!

WAY TO GO, REBEKAH!
I think you're doing a wonderful thing. It is frustrating that OVCA gets little 'recognition' so-to-speak. Even in September when it's OVCA Awareness Month, it is still swallowed up in breast cancer fund-raising and activities. Please understand - I am not minimizing breast cancer; we lost a wonderful sister to breast cancer some years ago. Equally, we have lost other family members to thyroid cancer, colon cancer, and stomach cancer.
In September, I print and distribute info regarding OVCA, and including a teal ribbon with a small 'sparkly' in the center. It's pretty, and the ones that I leave in the kitchen at work disappear quickly, which I am grateful for. There are Relay for Life opportunitues in our area, so I know there are countless people working tirelessly to broaden awareness. I guess it's the best we can do, just to continue the fight and not to give up.
By the way, I am in Michigan, but originated from Columbus, OH. My Dad had a friend in Mansifled whom we visited from time to time - small world! I will be applauding you on June 23 - keep up the good fight, Rebekah!
(((HUGS))) & Prayers,

You go Rebekah
You go Rebekah. I feel the same way and I know I shouldn't. I just think of all of the cancers that need the exposure. It really hurts me when I see all of these newbees on here and some of them are so young.
I wished that I could do what you are doing but I have a lung problem. So please run for me.

to hear about your three years cancer free. That is such encouraging news. Good luck on your endeavors to spread awareness about this dreaded disease.
