There is some new research
There is some new research that shows higher rates of cancer associated with the use of sleeping pills (ovarian cancer was not one of the cancers listed; I think the cancers were esophageal, colon, prostate & another non-gynecological cancer).0 -
All sleeping pills
Is it all prescription sleeping pills? I take lunesta and hate to give them up but definitely would if I thought they caused cancer, now I am worried because I need something to help me to stay asleep at nite.0 -

This information came from last weekend's naturopathic conference in Phoenix. The only sleeping aid that was cited is Ambien and it's link to increased interluken 8. Evidently, this does play a role in ovarian cancer, which is being recognized as an even bigger influence than interluken 6. No other sleep aids were linked.0 -

This sucks...I take Ambien for sleep. I am a chronic insomniac...have been all my life. When I run out of this batch, I will check into something else.0 -

Tethys
I would like to read the actual research on Ambien but can't find anything online. I would think it would be published somewhere.
Maybe taking melatonin could offset the possible negative effects of Ambien.0 -

I couldn't find it online either. Might be too new. I'll see if my naturpath can give me a reference.0 -
sleep walking
I took ambien and one of it's side effects is sleep walking there were reports of people driving while sleeping the took ambien. There were other reports of people having sex and never remembering it they were alseep thanks to ambien. I took it and did do a lot of slepp walking my mom was always around to keep me from doing something stupid on it. One night I guess I was dreaming that I finally learned how to jump off the diving board and I called my mom to the bottom of the steps and said watch I finally learned how to do the flip off the board and into the water I was at the top of the stairs she finally talked me out of it lol. So I moved to trazadome and it helps somewhat I talk anywhere from 150-200mg so check into trazadome it might help.

Anne,
That's even worse than the interluken 8 issue. Sounds like Ambien isn't good for anybody.0 -

I came right off the ambien after that my mom was scared that I would do something after she went to bed I would try to do a flip off the top of the stairs. I have not had that problem with the trazadome. I have alway walked in my sleep as a child my parents had to put tool boxes in frount of the doors to keep me from going out side. I think as a child I knew what was happening to me was wrong and I was trying to get away. There are nights that I kinda walk in my sleep but it few and far inbetween so not to worried about it now.
