    Platelets
    My platelet count actually went down to 59,000 once, they wouldn't allow me chemo. I hovered in the high 60's for almost a year.

    But too low to get chemo...

    49000! today
    Hope to be recovered in a week I get nervous when they have to stop my chemo.

    One day at the doctor's office my doctor said to me, "Rick," he said that because that is my name. "Rick," he said, "you have no platelets, if you even get a scratch you will probably bleed out and die. Wait, just a smudge of toner, you are fine, my bad."

    TBH I was low enough one that I could not receive chemo, but that time was so long ago, I just don't remember. For months after I recited the number like it was some kind of mantra and checked my blood work each time I received the report, looking for impending doom. Doom never came.
