My mother in law is fighting stage 3(I do not have the letter) ovarian cancer for the second time in 8 months. She was having a lot of pain, and doctor said it was cancer and that will happen(she had only had one chemo treatment thus far)brother-in-law pushed for help they ended up draining the max amount of fluids from her. Should she find another doctor? As my brother-in-law put it "It takes two rednecks to figure this out and he couldn't" I am not in the inner loop of what exactly is going on, but this woman is the best I have ever known I want to help her all I can. Does anyone have info. that might help

    Hi Sara
It's difficult to figure out what's going on from what you've posted.....Is your mother-in-law's doctor a gynecologist oncologist or a medical oncologist? Did she have surgery? Surgery should be ideally performed by a gynecologist oncologist, follow-up care is usually by a medical oncologist. She should be seeing these specialists even if she has to travel to the nearest large city to see them.....

Is she seeing a GYN ONC?
We could give a beter opinion on her treatment as compared with our experience if we had a few more details. I'm so very sorry that your family is going through all of this, but you've come to the right place for support. Did she initially have surgery and chemo? Is her doctor a GYN ONC? What type of chemo is she taking?
