was thinking about the teaTethys41 said:Nectar
I've looked at this a few times, but was always turned off by the sugar content. Don't know how effective the plant is in fighting cancer, but the sugar is a bad sign.
there was a web site that has the tea leaves and dont know where can find the fruit seems the seeds are the best. but then again dont know for sure about it. Just willing to try this to see if it can help until I restart chemo will be off close to 4 wks by time insurance approves advastin. ca125 number went up fr 60 to 92 and my ct scan showed spots on liver. said disease advancing just hate to sit and wait not trying or doing something got to fight. Sherry,
There are some things you can do, in the meantime. Just depends on how much you want to invest during your down time. Diet is an easy one. Cut out all sugar, dairy, grains, and processed foods. Eat only organic vegetables, nuts, and organic, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, free-range or grass fed AND finished, or wild caught meats. Keep fruits to a mininmum, and mostly dark skinned, organic berries, like raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Coconut milk is a good alternative to dairy, or coconut keifer is even better. This will give your gut a break from all the potentially irritating and inflammatory foods.
If you are not on blood thinnners or do not have gall bladder issues, look into taking about 4 grams of curcumin a day. Best to take one that contains black pepper, as it will be more easily absorbed. Doctor's Best brand has this. Curcumin reduces inflammation, which feeds cancer.
Exercise lightly, if you can, and keep stress to a minimum, if you can.
If you can find a practitioner who administers high dose IV vitamin C, you could do up to two a week, with nutritional IVs in between. This will not only help your body fight the cancer, but will prepare it for the upcoming chemo, while sensitizing the cancer to the chemo drugs. If you search IV vitamin C on this site, you'll see some posts about it.
Start reading the bood "Anti-cancer" by David Servan-Schreiber and get the "Cancer Fighting Kitchen Cookbook" by Rebecca Katz.
This should keep you busy for the month and make you healthier and stronger.0 -

Does your Dr approve on this iv vit c? well have to call and ask about it. Thanks for the hints Sherry0 -
Hi Sherry
I second the suggestion about reading the book "AntiCancer". It's full of lots of good information about foods that will nourish and protect. I currently eat lots of berries, a fruit I wouldn't touch previously. Curcumin (turmeric) is good also, it keeps the body from forming new blood vessels that feed tumors. I also drink green tea, it contains catechins which reduce inflammation which is thought to promote cancer. I try to get some sun as much as I can for the Vitamin D. I don't eat red meat, in fact, not much meat at all. I try to eat as much natural or organic foods as I can, prepared at home so I know what's in them. Hope that helps, good luck to you.....0 -

Sherry,
Nope, my oncologist did not approve of the IVC. But I'm well into this process and have learned that most oncologists really don't know about any of the integrative treatments out there. So, it would be irresponsible for them to recommend them. The practitioners who work with these therapies, however, do know about them and about how they interact with chemo.
I've worked with a naturopath and integrative nurse practitioner throughout this journey. With the things we've learned about me, it is clear that if we weren't taking measures to rectify malfunctions in my body, I'd be well into recurrances by now. Working with them as I have, however, I just passed my 2 years NED point. I can't say enough good things about finding a good practitioner who knows integrative treatment.
Wishing you the best.0 -

I know that there is a discussion thread on the anemia that occurs after chemo. In many cases, taking iron indefinitely is NOT a good idea. It's a good idea to have your ferritin level checked (ferritin is how you measure your body's iron level).
If your ferritin level is high, you don't need the iron supplement. A cancer survivor can have a high ferritin level & still be anemic because of the residual effect chemo has on bone marrow. The excess iron can damage the liver.
Menopausal women and men should be careful not to take iron without monitoring for iron overload.0 -

Hi -- I am from the breast
Hi -- I am from the breast cancer forum and sometimes I stop by here to check on you ladies too. I've had family members dx with oc.
I was anxious to respond to your post. I grew up on an island, and had a guanabana tree on my yard. We would eat it often - it is delicious! We would also make tea out of the lief. It actually cured the common cold and flu. However, I am not sure it does anything to cancer cells. I read this post on my forum too. There are so many articles about diets, foods to avoid, etc.. but nothing really solid that would confirm it does anything. I wish it did help. I do know that for those ER+, PR+ and/or HER2+, some foods are not recommended because it produces extra estrogen in the body, which I am sure you know.
I have no doubt in my mind that one day a cure would be found. I hope in our time. I think this cure would probably be found on a tree (taxol comes from a tree) or an exotic fruit or something. I just pray its soon so that no more lives are lost.
Be well.0 -

Most Oncologists do not stay on top of the fact that cancer feeds off iron and sugar. Look at Medline where all the MD's publish their articles and search on Iron, it will astound you. I too was prescribed this and got off of it just a few weeks back when my new integrative oncologist flipped out becasue I was on Iron.0 -
Guanabana
Hi 7 angels;
I recently lost my mother to cancer, she was a dentist, from the old times, when they used "mercury" to do fillings, and, as it has been known, that mercury gets absorbed into the blood stream and literally kills you.
Well, getting to the point of "guanabana"; it's very sweet fruit, and it's very broadly used in Colombia; where i actually come from originally (i actually live in Australia), and, it's used as a juice, not the leaves or as a tea, but as a juice of it's fleshy fruit, and, it becames like a very thick, rich and healthy juice, that according to scientists helps fight cancers.
I can say, with certainty, that guanabana helped my mother, and, in spite to the fact that she was ridden with cancer, the doctors that examined her after some time drinking guanabana juice, some of the ulcers from yhe cancer, were highly reduced; and, of course, we fed my mother with lots of other foods high in anti-oxidants, and, zero processed sugars.
Turmeric, ginger, garlic, cumin are also great cancer fighteing spices used in moderation, of course !!!
I also sent "zeolite" to my mother from Australia (bought in the US), and, if you search it on the internet; it's up to you to make the decision to give it to your dear one; we did give it to my mother, but, she was also given lots of water, cos, as it works on the cancer, it makes you very, very thirsty, lots of attention and lots, and lots of LOVE is very important, plus very high doses of appreciation for everything they did when they coud; and,. in this case, i refer to my dearest Mother.
I hope this info is of help to you !!!
Regards
Augusto

guanabana leaves
Hi Sherry and others that questions this, I live in Florida and they have the trees here. I looked everywhere to find a tree localy I live west near Davie they have fruit farms the winter had hurt the trees a few years back when I was looking for one I bought a small tree for $35 its growing and I give it all the love in the world.
I do not know if its a female plant or not that will give fruit someday. When I bought it there where 2 one huge and one small the huge one cost $200 they were next to that other one the other did give fruit they were on the ground. There is a way of making it and eating it for medical use to cure cancer so I have herd as well Here goes.
Boil water a cup take 2 leaves have them ready washed clean. Make sure that the leaves are nice and green in color pore the hot water in the cup with the leaves let them sit for 2 to 3 days till the water gets green yellow color drink it you can have a bottle full to the top with leaves and just drink that water daily or as much as you can. The fruit is great as well do not eat the seeds they are posion I read but the water from the leaves is what is good for you.
The fruit that they sell in stores comes from other contries and they put them through radiation machines when coming in the ports it takes all the goodness out of them. I have been drinking it like that for one year I keep my tree in my balcony where the sun hits it everyday it has to live in tropical setting. The can juice is tasty but that is about it I dont think it has the right stuff that cures a person so I read there is also in the ethnic section in the store a frozen bag that is kept I know publix here in florida has it and others I dont know up north? That also is not the magic stuff and in miami they have juice stands all over the place that sell natural juice.
In homestead or Davie Florida they have some places that may sell the trees maybe this summer they have good trees and fruit the winter was not that bad here this year Call around maybe they can ship you a tree. I also drink a juice called Organic Mangosteen that as well is a cancer cure I have done research and read alot about it keeps me on my toes all the time strong and healthy thank god for all the wonders of ther world. I have follicular lymphoma and there is no cure for it I keep my self informed on all the things I can drink to fight fight God bless and good luck if you need anything else just let me know.. Thanks cecilia

It's funny I was just telling my mom about how I read about the study UCLA did on Guanabana and we flew to a Bravo supermarket to get some. They did not have any and were waiting for the shipment. They sell the actual fruit themselves. If I can find the actual tree that would be awesome, I just dont' know where do you begin to call?
