Dad post-BMT status

Hi, my Dad had a bone marrow transplant last July for leukemia. We were lucky enough to find that his sister was a match for the transplant. His latest checkup came up with some unfortunate news in that the percentage of cells of the donor have dropped to under 30 percent and it appears as though his bad cells are contributing more and more. There is no trace of cancer but this result is very scary to me. My Mom said they are contacting his sister to fly back and donate more, so they can use it to pump him with "booster shots" to try and get the numbers to balance. My mom refers to this as a glitch and nothing to panic over, but I cannot help to think this is a very bad sign that the donor is being rejected through time. My Mom does not want to scare us but I just want someone to tell me how serious this is. Does anyone know or have any experience of this type of progression? Thank you so much.

    I know it has been a while
    I know it has been a while since you posted but I was wondering if there was any follow up to how your Dad is doing? I could have written almost the identical post. My Dad's BMT was in Oct 2011. We relapsed at 6 months and were told he had failed to graft. Dr's were able to quickly get him back into remission and the flew my Aunt up here (10/10 match) to donate WBC for a DLI. This was to jumpstart the grafting from the BMT. So far, so good! He had no GVHD the first time around, but now he is developing a skin rash. I hope your Dad is doing well.

    hi dont worry its just a hase all will be well all you need to worry about is the cancer cells coming back other wise counts will remain low for a long time secially if the erson is 50 over my husband was 53

    hi jenny it could be skin GVHD same haened to my husband he had looked terrible but now things have imrooved he had BMT in august 2009
