BIG DAY TOMORROW
Tomorrow is a big day for you. I know you will be tired from the benedryl. Just want to let you know we are thinking about you. You will be just fine. Its a day we all have to go thru. Some every 2 months and some every 6 months. Like you were saying in a previous post we were actually getting the R all along with our chemo. Just take it easy and see ya' on the board. John

Thanks buddy...
Hey John,
I can always count on you to remind me that I am NEVER alone in this cancer journey. I have Lizzy today, so I will be too busy to give much thought about my infusion tomorrow. Tonight however when the house is quiet,Lizzy has gone home and Steve to bed, my usual R concerns will invade my thoughts. My worst time is right before my chemo nurse hangs the bag to the IV pole and sarts the drip...UGH! By then though, the pre-meds are starting to make me droopy, so I say a quick prayer and before I know it I'm waking up to her gently shaking me saying.."Sue..we are all done". It's kind of funny, but each time I wake up, I look up at the ceiling and say "thank you Lord"..anothe one out of the way"!!! Thanks for always being here my friend..it makes the whole ordeal totally do-able! Love...Sue0 -

Sue,
When I have my infusions I am in a 4 person cubicle. There are private rooms but I think they are for people that have a different type.Find myself looking around at the other people there with me. I start up a conversation with them if they feel up to it. I get my pre-meds and a few minutes later the nurse is there with the bag. I am starting to feel a little out of it by then. I keep nodding off,but I wake up and at first wonder where I am. I look up at the bag and check the counter on the machine to see how much longer I have before I can go home. Its usually a long day ,but each infusion after that goes quicker because the flow is speeded up.Still do not look forward to them. John0 -

Hi Sue;
I envy you being able to take a nap. I am getting Rituxin tomorrow also. Just my second time and don't think I can sleep through it yet. You must have a clear conscience. Not a big surprise, reading all of your responses to others on this board. Hope your day is as good as it can be.. pleasant dreams.

Dear Sue,
We are always with you, as you already know. Our thoughts before the event, are so worrisome.
If I remember, you did quite well before, and you will be fine now.
God, please take care of our dear friend Sue. Watch over her please. Give her the
strength and courage to do what needs to be done.
Love always Maggie0 -

Hi Chuck,
I don't know what you get in the form of pre-meds before your R infusion, but I get 2 tylenol, benedryl and Lorazepam(sp?). The combination of these drugs simply put me out...I mean bomb go off and still stay asleep kind of out!! ha! I slept through my 3 1/2 hr infusion today and then came home and slept another 3 hours. Right now I'm still tired enough that I'll be able to go to bed in an hour or so, and sleep all night. The first week or two after my Rituxan I can't get enough sleep, but then things slowly start to level out. You might ask your doctor if you can have something to help you relax and sleep during your infusion. Hope all goes good for you...I'll be keeping good positive thoughts for you. Best wishes...Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)0 -

Hey sweet Maggie,
Thanks for the prayer. Everything went just fine with no surprises. My blood work is good and I slept through my whole infusion. He scheduled my CT scan for the first week of April, so I'll be glad to get that done and see how everything looks inside. I had a good day...my boys came over while I was at the clinic and left Valentine candy, balloons and flowers for me to see when I got home. I'm so blessed...here at home and also with all of you. Hope you had a nice day Maggie. Love you bunches...Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)0 -

I start the night before with 20 mg of Dexomethason. I am bouncing off walls by the time the meds start. Up all night, then pre meds are benedryl and something else I can't remember through the fog just now. Dr. gave me an Rx for Ambien yesterday but I did not wait to fill it and 2 Motrim PM put me out when I got home. Back tomorrow for more Cladribine, Thursday and Friday too but done with the R. I have a difficult time taking something to help me sleep over something that keeps me awake. So I plan my schedule around the Dex. When the Pre meds start I get kind of sleepy but haven't managed to doze...yet. Soo I take advantage of the WiFi and read. And visit.. and give the RN's a hard time. Positive thoughts all around..Make it a double.

Hi Sue,
I find it very interesting you are given Lorazepam along with 2 tylenol and benedryl
before treatment of Rituxan. Hmmm, wondering if others also receive Lorazepam??? There
is no harm really. Just the joy of a nap in the infusion room and a nap home.
Let me know. Love and best wishes. Maggie0 -

The reason I get the Lorazepam is because the benedryl causes me to have restless legs. They dropped my benedryl dose from 50mg to 25mg after my first chemo treatment because my legs just gave me fits. So I assume the Lorazepam is added to combat the restless feeling from the benedryl and also to keep anxiety down. I have the opposite reaction to pain meds than most people....what makes others tired causes me to feel amped up. Anti anxiety drugs don't get me hyper, but drugs like Vicodin, Percosett, etc REALLY make me hyper. Weird..huh? I can't take cold medicines either, like alka seltzer or Nyquil as they cause me to me to get hyper also. Now you see why I hated the Prednisone so much...that crap absolutely put me in a tail spin and I detested it. Well...Lizzy is here and ready for her morning bottle, so I better go. Have a good day...Love...Sue0 -

Just checking in to
Sue,
Just checking in to see how you are doing? Hopefully things went not so bad yesterday. To me the Benedryl was worse than recieving the chemo...always made me feel kind of weird and took a couple days for the effects to wear off. Pain medication makes me so ill that I haven't found any that I can tolerate.
I do hope you are feeling better today. In my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Shelbymae,
I felt ok today, but not great. I woke up with a dull headache which has lasted all day. My shoulders and hip are more achey than usual, but this is the norm for me for the first week after my infusion. It's just a sluggish feeling is the best way to describe it. I was perfectly able to babysit my 9 month old granddaughter Lizzy, so obviously my body is functioning "good enough"..ha! She brings me such joy that I'm able to ignore alot of my aches and pains. Thanks so much for asking Shelby...it's always nice to be thought about. Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)0 -

Glad you are doing well Sue. It is amazing what good medicine Grand Children are. Nice to be so blessed. I made it through my R infusion and slept well after. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you for you speedy response about Lorazepam. I have never taken Vicodin or Percosett.
I suppose that's why there are so many people addicted to these meds. They like the feeling
of being hyper. I was given Tylenol with codeine once by a dentist. My stomach was so
upset. Prednisone gets me very, very depressed. Thank goodness I haven't taken this
medicine for awhile for my asthma. The Prednisone given to me in the infusion room did
not bother me in the least. It was only one dose.
Please stay home and turn on the TV. I know baby Lizzie will be with you. Such a joy.
All my love. Maggie0
