is still alive and kicking, doing well I think, but she's good at hiding stuff from me so, I could be wrong.
Anyway, her cea (?) number went up last time, not much, just a point or two. She's on xeloda (2 pills twice a day for 2 weeks then off a week) and she gets treatments every three weeks, they've put on her avastin (I think) this round. It's her second round of 6 treatments, the first set of treatments was xeloda (same as above) and oxiliplatin(sp?). Her main side effect is the diarhhea--can't spell that either, anyway, that gets her down often, that, and the fact that her son isn't doing well with his stage 3 esophageal cancer, she worries and stresses over him. He has surgery again on 2/13/12 (I posted questions regarding him on the esophageal board).
Some background on her. She was diagnosed Stage 4 this time last year and told the cancer had spread to other main organs/areas. They gave her 6 months if she did nothing, but she is doing the xeloda and (first) oxiliplatin (6 rounds) and now avastin (6 rounds--her 5th is scheduled for this Thursday (the 9th).
This is the first I've been here in a long while. I wish I had time to read and catch up on everyone but I don't. I hope everyone is doing GREAT, and enjoying life.
Take care,
Marianne
