    There is a woman in my old support group here locally who was Stage Ic, had a hysterectomy and chemo, then pronounced "as close to cured as you can get." It came back 12 years later. Her doctor said it was still ovarian cancer, even though she no longer had ovaries.

    PS....I had two ports, too. My first one eroded thru the skin and I was in the middle of 12 monthmaintenancenence chemo, so I opted to have another one placed, on the opposite side. Now I have matching scars!

    Multiple Ports
    I will have three scars now and now they make an incision above where the port goes in to guide the tube into the vein and I will have those two scars too! But little price to pay if the treatment works. I am sorry you had to have two ports too, I know how you feel. I am up late tonight because they gave me Benadryl and I dozed alot during the first four hours of treatment!

    I'm sorry this disease has raised it's ugly head again...but what hope you have offered to so many that you were able to have 14 years without chemo. I felt blessed for 13 months, then 3 months, and yes it is back again. Unfortunately, I need to put on back burner for now as I have 3 brain turmors Radiated two yesterday and surgery for other on Monday...then I can deal with the OV.

    I hope your treatments go well and this is just blip and you'll remain in remission for a long time and may never hafta face treatments again. We all are pulling for you...keep us informed of your glowing achievements and victory.

    Whew! Glad that first treatment is over!
    I felt really good the day of and the day after treatment. Then the joint pain started, first in my hands and hips and then moved to my knees and feet. I don't remember 14 years ago this much pain, I know I am 14 years older too! The pain seemed to settle in my feet and I even had a hard time walking because it hurt so much! I am usually very tolerant of pain, but this one got to me. I am blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends who support me, it would be really hard without them. I finally started really feeling better on the 15th, still a little pain in my feet, but very bearable. I get tired more eaily than I did before the treatment, but that is getting better too! I go Monday for blood test and hopefully my next treament will be Feb. 28. Thanks for all the encouragement, it really helps.

    So sorry that you had much more pain this time around but glad that you're feeling better now. I experienced mild leg pain and overwhelming fatigue and constipation the first few days after each treatment. Like you, my family and friends were wonderful and really helped me to get through the treatments. Sending you good thoughts and prayers and hoping you can get the second one under your belt by the end of the month.

    I know what you mean by 'being older'. I realized with my recurrance that it would be a little different because I was 6 years older. But I also had a good support system, a wonderful doctor, and pre-meds and post-meds to help out. And dealing with all the other side affects wasn't fun, but I got through it. I know you will, too!

    Finally feeling normal again!
    I am amazed at how normal I feel now,I wouldn't have thought it a week ago. My next treatment is Feb. 28, I hope it goes better. I my white count a couple of days ago was a little low, but the doc said I could take my treatment and they would give a shot of Neulasta the next day to keep my built up. Does anyone know if there are side effects to the shot? Thank you all for all the good thoughts and prayers!

    What kind of post meds did you have? I was sent home after the treatment with nothing, no instructions and no meds. I was wondering if there was anything I could take to make it better.

    Just got a call from doctor's office and after one treatment CA 125 down from 531 to 394! Sounds good to me.

    Way to go
    Down is the right direction. The common side effect of Neulasta is bone pain. I've heard of women reducing it by taking Clariten. I didn't have the pain with these shots, but I was on so much pain medication, I couldn't have felt anything.

    Your CA 125 is heading in the right direction. Congratulations!!! I wanted to let you know since you said you had some heart and diabetic issues that the chemo can make your sugar levels rise. I'm sure you are well aware of this by now as I am coming into the conversation late. As far as the Neulasta goes, yes, bone pain is horrible. I experienced twitching legs and symptoms close to Restless Leg Syndrome. I would feel great the day I got the shot then the minute I sat down, it was all over. Claritin, as well as Benadryl helped with the pain I experienced after my Neulastat shot. I will also tell you that my specialist told me after I had my surgery that the Cancer can come back on other organs but that it would still be considered Ovarian Cancer. Don't want to bring you down but I think it's best to be informed. I'm sorry you have to go through this horrible mess again. It was bad enough the first time. Keep looking up. You beat this monster once and you can do it again. Much love to you.

    Bone pain
    I also had terrible bone pain when I went through chemo ( 4years ago). Just found out that my cancer is back. I have a spot on my liver. I am going in next week to have a section of my liver removed, then I have to do chemo again. Since I know what to look forward to, I am really not looking forward to chemo. I did find that is my husband just kepted rubbing my legs, the pain wouldn't feel that bad. It could have been just a diversion, but it seemed to help. Nothing else did. A heating pad on the bottom of my feet helped also. Stay strong.........it will be over before you know it.

    Hair is gone! I'm ok with that. It was coming out in handfuls, so my whole family came and we shaved it all off. Then my husband and son said they were going to do the same! They said they are going to keep it off till mine grows back! I have the sweetest and best family, I am so blessed. I was very happy my daughter didn't decide to do it too!

    Question: what have you all found was the best kind of lotion to put on my scalp? My next treatment is tomorrow, which I am not looking forward to because of the joint pain, but I know I have to get through it and I will beat this monster again! I plan on taking some pain meds in hopes that it will help.

    Thank you all for all your encouraging words, I know everyone on here has their on battle to wage and I pray for each and every one of you!

    2nd Treatment done!
    Had my second treatment today, all went well until they started giving me the carboplatin. My hands and arms tot red itchy. They gave me some benedryll and that stopped it. They didn't give me much saline with this treatment as they did the first one. I think they ran the saline the whole time the first time. I had to go to the bathroom very frequently. But this time I did not, so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with the itchiness. I go for my shot and hope the joint pain will not be too bad.
