Alcohol Ablation - is it really safe and appropriate for recurrence?

I may have a recurrence in 2 small lymph nodes; waiting to have the biopsy done. I've heard conflicting things about alchohol ablation. I've heard it is not good; or that it may not help with lymph node recurrence. I've also heard it could be a great alternative to surgery. I've already had my TT, Right and Left Radical Neck dissections done over 1 year ago. If it is a good alternative - does it hurt - do they just use a local on you or what?
Anyone with info would be great.
