in Head and Neck Cancer #1
I just wanted to pass long if nobody as heard but Joe Paterno Dies form lung cancer last night. Joe my good friend you will be truly missed.

    Sad...hopefully he'll be most remembered for the good things that he did in life.

    Sad that another has lost the battle with cancer... but.... he should have done more to help those boys. A great legend ruined by yet another adult not stepping up to save a child. Lets hope people have learned.. no matter what your position, when you see or hear of a child being abused, you put your personal gains aside and HELP.

    I too being a big college football fan (TN of course) was saddened to learn of JoePa's death. He and a former coach at TN were good friends. I am most saddened about how Penn State handled things. I'm so sorry for those boys and what alledgedly happened, but I have to wonder having been a former teacher, by law, we were required to report any abuse or suspected abuse to our principal and then it was in their hands. If that was true in this case, JoePa did what he was supposed to do but then the alleged abuse still continued and now it's a big mess and children were the victims. When they fired him, I thought to myself, "This will kill him"! He was such an icon and last night I heard he had contributed $4m over the years to the university and I do believe he was truly upset by what all happened and sorry about not doing more but I have read an article that at the time he first knew (not excusing him of course) he did what the protocol called for. Now if he had knowledge that the abuse was continuing that's another matter. But like John, hopefully he'll be remembered for the good things he did and forgiven for the error in judgement. And that the victims will have some peace about things as the trial goes along.

    Maybe he did what he was legally supposed to do, but he didn't do what he was morally required to do. If that was his grandkids or kid in the shower, do you think he would have let it go with just reporting it to his superiors? For any one who thinks Joe Paterno did the "right thing", would you think it was the right thing if it were your kid that was abused by Sandusky? I think not.
